A joy!

This is dining at its best - unpretentious but classy. Beautiful presentation, bright flavours, just the right portions and a light touch on accompaniments. I was so glad to see a lovely piece of fish on its own, not smothered in sauce! (It came with a drizzle of sauce alongside.) Excellent... read more

My wife and I ate here with our kids (age 8 and 10) after having explored the D-Day beaches on an afternoon tour. We had made reservations well in advance for this day. The restaurant is charming small but charming and elegant, although we were a little disheveled after a long afternoon in the hot summer sun. The food was... More

You will need a reservation since the restaurant is small. The table is yours for the night. The food was excellent as was the service. It was our favorite dining experience in Normandy!

Le Rapeire is a delight in Bayeux. The restaurant is only a few hundred feet from the center of the town and maybe a 5-minute walk from the cathedral or Bayeux Tapestry. It’s down a charming side alley. You can find it under the cool sign that has a swashbuckling swordsman with – a rapier. The inside is modern in... More

We dined at La Rapiere for our 15th Wedding Anniversary in July 2015 having found the restaurant in a web search of Bayeux. It looked nice on the website but reality far exceeded our expectations. I booked a table via their website and they confirmed our reservation by email. It proved to be a great place to dine. Firstly -... More

The staff was as friendly as the food was delicious. The oysters were like nothing we have ever tasted before. The plates were almost to pretty to touch. The whole meal was an experience we will not soon forget. Best of all was the cheese plate and how they present it to you! GO!

My husband and I ate in this exceptional restaurant earlier this week. It was, quite simply, one of the best eating experiences we have had in a long time. The service and surroundings were faultless, and the taste and presentation of the food just wonderful! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend La Rapiere and will definitely be back. Tip: Make sure... Well deserving of the number one spot. A real family atmosphere with attentive yet never rushed service. Simply the best piece of lamb I have ever eaten, beautiful plates of food with exquisite attention to detail. The menu with the wine pairings did not disappoint either. Book early as this is not a large place and you may have to... More

As a restaurant-goer for over 30 years I am rarely as thrilled as I was with my visit to this restaurant - where the service, food and ambience were all excellent as was the very modest bill for what was a 5 course meal. I will certainly return.
