Excellent meal

I dined here on a Sunday night, while traveling alone in Normandy. My hotel owner recommended this as one of the better options open on a Sunday, and it did not disappoint. Very welcoming for a solo diner, attentive staff, didn't balk at my terrible attempts at French. I had oysters and a cider... read more

The staff at Hotel Villa Lara suggested Le Pommier for a lazy Monday evening. We were fortunate that such a nice experience was possible on a night when some of the other establishments were closed. Le Pommier is removed from the main street of pedestrian traffic down Rue Saint-Jean but because the restaurant is located just across the street from... More

Using the fork.com and specific parameters (7-10 rating, under 35 euro pp, walking from hotel - traveling with family of 5). Le Pommier not only met but exceeded our expectations. Service was lovely and excellent, food was beautifully presented and delicious, setting was cozy, decor was cool, quiet surrounding. A wonderful evening here with my family. Glad we came here,... We were a bit restricted on restaurants on a Sunday night but this one managed to fit us in and we were extremely pleased they did. We had a wonderful meal, I had the black pudding followed by duck which were both wonderful. One friend had fish which they did find rather sweet but otherwise excellent and good value.

We had a wonderful dinner at Le Pommier. Absolutely charming space with a real fireplace. My husband had escargot to start and I had oysters. He had the fish of the day and I had duck; both were excellent. Do NOT miss the apple "pie" with vanilla ice cream. Definitely a restaurant highlight of our 2-week trip!

Sadly this restaurant did not live up to expectations or other reviewers experiences. Excellent bottle of Sancerre though.

We discovered "Le Pommier" through a special Gourmet Cruise promotion that was being offered by Brittany Ferries, and it was an excellent choice. Food was unpretentious yet plentiful, with varied "specials" options as well. We both had the Jambon to start with which was simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious, followed by Veal and then a Chocolate Mousse (mousse au chocolat) to finish.... More

Our second night in Bayeux, we had booked in good time. The food was typical of normandy and well presented. The camembert mousse was divine and, between us, we had a range of the main courses on offer. I even had the tripe normande! Service was really friendly and the evening was relaxing and enjoyable. It is right in the... More

Warm and friendly staff. The set menu with the recommended wine satisfied all four of our appetites after spending a day viewing memorials and walking up beach heads. Would recommend to anyone visiting Bayeux.
