I went for Monday lunch with low expectations, based on the reviews in French which wrote of mediocre food, and even "deception" and "tourist trap" What I found was a place 75% full on a Monday, with what seemed to be locals I had scampi, veal blanquette and a traditional chocolate mousse... read more

We chose this for a late lunch. The menu is classic French brasserie fare. They're good at it, as they have been doing it since 1924! This is the sister-ship of Lille's famous fish restaurant, L'Huitriere. The food is not as elevated; it is more hearty and familiar...and the better for that. In the 1920s and 1930s, the dining room... More

I have eaten her many thimes both on business and with my Husband The staff are really friendly and always let me speak in french to them which is a great boost when you are keen to learn the language ( and help me, in a nice way, when i make a mistake!) The food is great - I adore... More

This a very good quality food restaurant, recommended by my hotel. Excellent service, good choice of food and wine. Nice warm friendly atmosphere. Really enjoyed it and would recommend it, but did think some drinks were a bit pricey.

On a cold, rainy night, I was the only one waiting for a table. I was told 10-20 minutes. 45 minutes later, several groups that arrived after me had been seated, and I'd been told 5 minutes, then 2 minutes… 10 minutes later, I left.

On my visits to Lille over the years I have always enjoyed a meal at this traditional restaurant. On this occasion, dining in mid-afternoon (it serves food all day) I had fish soup, andouillette with chips, and a fig tart, washed down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Muscadet. All excellent and impeccably served.

We picked this from the Lonely Planet Guide but would not recommend. The menu was limited and expensive; the food was adequate although there were no vegetables on offer - chips with everything (thin or fat!). The service was fine and the surroundings interesting, although it was not particularly clean. It was quite cold and so we ate inside; unfortunately... More

Traditional French dining but the food will make you cry with delight. Superbly presented - in short an excellent "Find" but strangely not mentioned in either the Kirker tour bumf or the Carlton Hotel recommendations - wonder why?
