Worth the travel. Not only very good kitchen, but a nice, warm atmosphere. It's all about the taste. I will definetelly visit again.

we were 3 persons to go for a nice dinner. and what a surprise ! it started with the menu card , where only 3 types of menu's were being presented . trying to obtain some more information about the contence of each menu, the lady of the house, I presume , remained very mysterious about it, in fact told... Came here because of Tripadvisor reviews and rating. It was the worst meal I have had in many years - anywhere in the world. Not just awful food but wine and service too. Maybe there has been a change ownership or something, but I would steer well clear if I were you. A total waste of money.

We booked this restaurant after reading the other positive reviews and from a local recommendation. First issue was the wine menu where half the wine selections were "crossed out" by hand. Unfortunately for us, the crossed out selections were the better wines. Next, the menu was presented as a "Menu Eyes Closed" meaning Chef's surprise menu where one person chooses... More

Visited the restaurant with husband for his 60th birthday with our 2 sons aged 25 and 21. We all had the suprise menu for around 30 euros. The food was delicious and we are hard to please so that says it all. We started with an amuse bouche of pumpkin soup with lemon oil. We then had a soup size... More

This restaurant is well worth a visit if you enjoy good food and do not have particular dislikes. It is well located in Vieux Lille just 5 minutes walk from the Grande Place. The menu comprises two options - a fixed three course menu with a choice from two dishes in each course (40 euros) or a surprise 3 course... More

Every course is a splendid surprise! Not to mention the 30,50 euro 3-course meal is super value for money together with authentic french high cuisine ambience!

Au gout du jour offers a 3 course menu for around 30 euro. The cuisine is quite inventive and is- for the price being- of a good quality. The surprise menu is a clever gimmick from the chef and keeps the price down. We had a veloute of asparagus, a dorade with risotto and the cheese. We had the lunch... More

Crab Mousse then veal then a chocolate pudding with pistachio cream WOW! With a bottle of wine £60 for the... More

We arrived to the restaurant without really knowing what to think... and we were welcomed by a really kind atmosphere and a perfect and nice service. We tried the blind menu and we found it amazing and tasty. For 30€ each we had a lovely culinary experience. We will surely return here to try the others plates.
