Description: L'Huîtrière restaurant in the pretty streets of Vieux Lille is already a...
L'Huîtrière restaurant in the pretty streets of Vieux Lille is already a tourist attraction for its tiled Art Deco frontage done up in piscatorial themes. This is true French gastronomy – l’'Huîtrière began in the 1800’s as an oyster stall that grew into a culinary institution with a Michelin star firmly attached. You approach the shrine to the sea through an unassuming portal at the rear of the still-thriving fishmonger, then enter a very traditional, very charming dining room. This is an amuse-bouche sort of place with confident, swift waiters and a parade of perfect dishes proceeding from the kitchen. Shellfish and things of the sea are, of course, the heart of the menu, like turbot in potato crust with butter, mussel and truffle sauce. Beer features heavily in the menu, along with other fine local ingredients. The fine wine list features some heavy-hitting labels and vintages alongside smaller producers. Menus sometimes centre around a particular ingredient, like asparagus in season. Private groups can take advantage of the Salon Bar (up to 17 diners), the Maire Andre' (up to 70) or the Salle Réunion(up to 65). A presentation room downstairs is perfect for meetings, seminars or speeches before a fabulous meal in one of the other spaces. Hire of all of l'Huîtrière lets you up the guest list to 100.

Quite expensive for The quality, Fish is fresh, taste is good, but...not to Be rembered. Bit old school fishrestaurant. Service is good, not excellent. Dishes 40-50 euro. Excellent wines, a lot to choose from. Known as one of The best fishrestaurants in Lille. Not for me, just because it's The "nineties".

A great table with top level service. Food is amazing but very pricy (worth it mind you). I hope to go back soon and hopefully they will have bouillabaisse on the menu next time.

If you like oysters there is no where better in Lille! Sit in this deli and relax with a glass of wine (30 Euros a bottle - lots of choice) and feast on oysters about 3 Euros each (price varies on quality). Also a dozen other cold deli/fish based platters available from 10 Euros upwards. You can eat here instead... More

My husband and I went there to celebrate his birthday. We both love oysters and lobster and chose this place with very high expectations. They don't have an English menu and only serve French wine, which we found odd given it is frequented by Eurostar travellers from the UK, but they politely explained anything we couldn't understand. We started with... More

This is an establishment where one would not wish to hurry one's meal and, on the whole, the food is very good and the service attentive. And so it ought to be as the restaurant pitches its prices at Michelin starred levels (expect 25-40 euros for starters and 35-60 euros for mains). And perhaps therein lies my problem. For, despite... You enter this restaurant via a little door at the corner of an amazing seafood shop/emporium traditional in Lille for many years. Someone greets you and ushers you into a lovely restaurant with wood panelled walls. All the waiters are efficient, courteous and friendly. We had one of the best meals we have had for a very long time on... More

Very classical in service and menu, great selection of wines and cheeses. Authentic is the description of the fish shop, that serves as an entrance and that also hints what you should be thinking of when ordering. They do not rush you and you should not be in a rush either. Overall good service, also very regimented which you do... More

On a friday afternoon we started in the fish/traiteur shop in front of the restaurant. And stayed there for the next 4-5 hours! Great chance to taste all the incredible fresh oysters, salmon sashimi, caviar, foie gras, cheese, champagne & wines. In this 'classic' ambiance it is easy to spend some very enjoyable time (& quite some money...)

A nice place to find fish dishes well made, but some not really an achievement...The service is very classy but it takes a while to be served. Overall, it takes some time...
