From the moment you arrive to be warmly greeted by Madame Carrendier and seated, in summer on the lovely shady terrace, or in winter in the warm dining room, a great experience is assured. Impeccable and friendly service, an interesting wine list, and Michel Carrendier's exquisite food. This summer, try the morue cannelloni, the mullet, the delicious veal - or... More

Not the easiest of locations to find (exit 57 from the A20 motorway north of Cahors) but well worth a small detour. We first discovered La Garenne a decade ago, and try to plan our travel to the south of France via Cahors just so as to be able to return to enjoy a meal here. In the summer meals... More

We've eaten here many, many times - everything from lovely summer lunches to celebratory New Year's Eve meals and have never been disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and highly efficient, the ambiance is excellent and we've always found the well presented food to be first class. There is undoubtedly a good choice of restaurants in and around Cahors but... More

Sunday Lunch ....with friends. After the overpriced ordinary food that we experienced in our recent trip to engerland it was wonderful to go back to a good old fashioned, friendly proper french restaurant. The restaurant was full but the service was exemplary ...the chef came out to see if all was OK and had a conversation with one of my... More

Four of us ate here on the 11th of August and had a beautiful meal. This was one else of the only restaurants we could find open on a Sunday night but we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is set in a beautiful old house just off the main road into Cahors from the northern exit of the autoroute so easy... More

La Garenne has a good reputation locally but choice can be limited. The new menu (perhaps not so new) offers an nice choice of à la carte or menu options to suit most tastes and budgets. Our group of 4 enjoyed a truly delicious and beautifully presented diner, outdoors on the secluded and quiet terrace. There is a good choice... More

Excellent food in a delightful setting. Choice of menus and a reasonably priced wine list. The duck liver starter was unusual and recommended. Good fish main dishes. Lamb was a little overcooked by French standards, but the preponderance of Brits in the dining room explains all. If you have a designated driver, la Garenne is well worth the visit.

This restaurant is about 5 kilometers north of Cahors but well worth the drive. The restaurant itself has tons of ambiance. The restaurant is owned by a husband and wife. He is the chef and she runs the front of house. She is very very friendly and makes your experience much better. The food and service are both exquisite. There... More

A traditional Restaurant on the D820 north of Cahors, La Garenne offers fine local produce beautifully cooked and presented. Duck features highly as you would expect in the Lot Valley and the Chef Proprieter makes full use of his talents in serving them in beautifully created dishes

My husband and I went to La Garenne for to celebrate anniversary a few days ago, the restaurant had been recommended to us by several friends. The service was excellent, even though they had a large party to cater for at the same time and the staff were very friendly. The menu choices were really good and quite different to... More
