Original... and well-worth the stop-over

Cahors happened to be a stop-over town during our road trip! Having dined here, I would suggest to travellers to insist on stopping over here just to have a meal! For starters, my husband and I shared the region's foie gras, served with home-made buns served warm, made with fresh figs. The foie... read more

We stopped in to this little restaurant by the river and we were taken by how excellent the food was. We each had the three courses and each declared his the best. The presentation was beautiful. We definitely would return.

The Cuisine Cote Sud is well worth it's Tripadvisor high rating. It is located close to the river front of Cahor's old town. There is plenty of parking but on busy days you may need a few minutes to find a place - but it is worth the effort. The restaurant shares a building with Cote Sud's "delicatessen" shop and... More

Enjoyed a very tasty and beautifully prepared lunch in Cuisine Cote Sud. It was refreshing to have a menu that offered more variety than just the usual duck-dominated fare. The winning starter was the monkfish and shrimp terrine, along with a very good blood sausage dish. Main courses of grilled sole and pork fillet lived up to the high standard.... More

We were lucky to have snagged one of the last tables in this small restaurant, which was filled largely with British tourists. No children's menu, but there was enough on the menu that appealed (moussaka dish, divided into two... and, of course, the pineapple tiramisu to cap off the meal). Service was brisk (and perhaps a bit brusque) but efficient,... More

This was a seriously fine lunch. The setting is modern and the staff are efficient and friendly which is good in a restaurant which is very busy. The menu has a good selection which seemed to have something for everyone. Squid salad was a pleasant start followed by guinea fowl which was superb. Others had the Sea bream and lamb... More

Only open for lunch, and popular with locals and tourists alike, this small bistro-cum-restaurant-cum-traiteur is worth booking in advance. The back half is for (very up-market) take-away meals, while the open, airy front half is for sit-down meal. The menu is limited (and has nothing for vegetarians, unless you eat fish), but the food is excellent. Portions are not huge,... More

An excellent lunch in February, with the main course of fresh salmon one of the best that I can remember since 1958!

A friendly welcome for foreigners, either in French or English, and a lunchtime spot full of discerning local diners as well, all at reasonable prices, what's not to love? We had leg of lamb preceded by foie gras, followed by a peach cobbler crowned by the best vanilla ice cream of my life -- I dare not think how many... More
