My Favorite restaurant

I've been living in Albi for 6 months and had not been to this restaurant, a friend of mine said he had been many times and said it was his favorite place to have dinner. I can now say that it is mine too. Great 3 course Menu, wine and service.

Last night my husband and I enjoyed one the most, if not the most amazing meal we have eaten during our three months in France. This unpretentious little gem in a quiet street is not to be missed. I had tender slices of squid and juicy scallops prepared in an amazing creamy sauce, served with with penne pasta, salad and... More

This is a delightful restaurant we stumbled upon and shared a yummy lunch with friends. The owner/chef managed to cook and entertain a full restaurant with the help of just 1 charming waitress .The food was delicious with generous helpings and all produce purchased at the local market. I will certainly be putting Le Papillon on my list of favourite local... More

We were looking for a light lunch in an area of France known for heavy meals full of foie gras and were happy to find this place. They offer large salads that can be eaten as a meal. They also have a vegetarian prix fix offering which was absolutely delicious. Keep in mind, though, that the term vegetarian is a... More

In the last two years we have spent approx 7 weeks in France. This is the best meal we have had. It is very rare that my kids (aged 7 & 11) ask to go back to a restaurant for a second visit. For this restaurant they begged. The food was just superb and the sauces are to die for.... More

The meal was lovely and much better value than restaurants right in the centre that we tried and/ or looked at. It is only a few minutes walk down a side street. The owner loves to cook and therefore does it well and is good fun. Highly recommended and very French.

Not enjoying the late hour the French eat, we were pleasantly surprised when the owner came out of the kitchen to speak to us and to welcome us to eat at 6.45 pm. The food was great. I had the duck with apple and my husband had veal with a creamy mushroom sauce. We then shared a melt-in-the-mouth crime brûlée.... More

Papillon is situated exactly 170m from the angle of the rue Mariès and the Place Ste.-Cécile (by the eastern end of the Albi cathedral), at the bottom end of the rue Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. An unpretentious and friendly bistro-like eatery with a genial owner, smiling staff, and onobtrusive music, it amply deserves its 2014 award. We had lunch after the... More
