ESPRIT EPHÉMÈRE for lunch

The main restaurant was closed for lunch, but this one was open. Because of the chef's reputation, we chose it, although other places nearby looked attractive. I found it somewhat disappointing. The menu, written on blackboards, was small and featured tomato-based dishes that day, which I did... read more

We choose L'Esprit du Vin for a special occasion and, not wishing to mix my metaphors, both style over substance and the devil is in the detail aptly sum up our experience. As an aperitif we asked for a gin & tonic....but they had no tonic! Michelin Star? The lunchtime menu was very limited with no al la carte options.... More

I last visited this restaurant in August 2012 and gave a very excited report. I have revisited it recently on two occasions and am a little disappointed. I feel the passion has gone off the boil and the Chef is trying to be too cleaver with herbs and missing the fundamentals. It is still good by any standards but something... More

The chef decides the menu (the same for everyone at the table). The maitre d' describes the dishes and answers questions. The food was fabulous, every bit of the four-course meal a gourmet's delight. The mushroom gazpacho with a dollop of fois gras the most sensual soup ever! The presentation was by far the most impressive of any I've had.... More

There is no doubt this i arestaurant worthy of its Michelin star. The kitchen is contemporary with lot os good ideas .The servings look very nice and taste very good .Sometimes maybe a bit owercrowded in the inventiveness , but still very .The setting in the cellar are charming and very good service.Worth going there .

We had high hopes for this restaurant, but were disappointed. To start with service was mediocre to put it kindly. The décor was OK, but the table was pretty bare for a restaurant with one Michelin star. The meal (40€) was a tiny amuse & some olives followed by a fish dish followed by another fish dish. Individually the dishes... More

Extraordinary restaurant, in a vaulted basement, where the menu is a series of surprises. You get a card with a cloud of names of dishes on it, and you indicate to the waiter what you do *not* like. You will then get a splendid meal chosen out of the other dishes by the chef, with appropriate wines. You leave feeling... More

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. The format has been described by others so I won't repeat, but it was a great success as far as we were concerned. We "only" had the 3 course option, but with all the excellent extras that was more than sufficient. Very pleasant service too.

Just a few meters down the road from the Cathedral is this fairly small partly vaulted restaurant. It is unusual in that the menu gives a list of various items that the chef will include in your meal and it is up to you to say which items you do not like. The chef will then create a menu and...
