Great restaurant in the centre of Nancy. French grand Café. Perfect atmosphere, nice food. Not cheap. Needs reservation. Arrived 21:00 hrs., had to wait aprx. 30 min. Even at 23:00 hrs. still people arrived. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Nancy.

... like us, for examples. I suspect many visitors to the city are here to admire the architecture and artefacts - to be seen at the Ecole de Nancy museum and the Museum of Modern Art. L'Excelsior is the star turn or, as the online blurb for the restaurant calls it, the "flagship". Booking is essential so we booked for... More

From the beginning to the end of our dinner, we have enjoyed the place, the food and the superb service. The staff is great and serving almost perfectly. The menu prestige is nonetheless a good value but it is also tasty. Beautiful building, deco and surrounds.

We ate there twice and enjoyed first of all the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) environment of the brasserie. It is beautifully preserved and puts you right away into the Grand atmosphere of around 100 years ago. On the top of it, the food is nice and the same as for the service. You pay for the setting but being a brasserie... More

Aha, open Sunday night in Nancy when virtually nothing is open. Beautiful art nouveau restaurant. What could go wrong? Plenty, actually. The food is basically bistro style with an emphasis on fish, and it was pretty good. The dining room is vast and has great art nouveau aspects. The service was appalling. We asked the waiter not once, not twice,... More

I chose the menu of St-Jacques. It was so light for the dinner time. The service was excellent and quick. I was also entertained by the group of waiters singing the birthday song. Lovely.

Whenever I pass Nancy on the way South or on the way back, I try to stop here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The décor is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere of the real Grand Café shoots you back a century in time, when restaurants were managed by people who loved their profession, and where waiters were not unschooled boys... I have been three times, once with a boyfriend, once with a good friend and once with my family. On all occasions the food is exemplary. They offer both a French and English menu and there is someone on hand to translate if you need. I would say if you have no commitments to the weekend, to try going on... More

We went to L'Excelsior for its well-known Art Nouveau decor, not the food. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent.

We booked a table and dressed up for this elegant restaurant. The room was stifling hot and no aircon or fans. The weather had been unseasonably warm . The food was edible but the serves were tiny. We had smoked salmon with blinis sorry one blini , although the salmon portion was ok . My duck was only 3 slices... More
