Renown restaurant in centre of town

I had the opportunity to have lunch on a busy Sunday in the middle of the summer. The restaurant was packed with what seemed to be elegantly dressed locals. Renown for its old époque interiors it is worth visiting just for that....I chose the set lunch menu (foie gras and mussels)- the food was ok... read more

We made a reservation for a nice romantic table in the grand halle and got a lovely window seat. The menu was tempting and hard to choose. I started with a seafood mixed platter, oysters 3 different species, shrimps it was heaven. Had a nice glas of Saint Aubin Chardonnay with it, perfect! Après the magret de canard avec foie... More

I already went a few time to the Excelsior, with friends or family. The food is very good, seafood excellent and fresh. Sumptuous surroundings. The wine was really good, the staff speaks english. Pricy restaurant but worth it definitly.

Yes we did go because of the architecture loving art nouveau as we do, but were bowled over by the whole experience. Christmas lunch like never before. Full restaurant full of buzzy conversations and happiness all around. We had the meat menu but the more popular for this festive day appeared to be the seafood menu, costing 100€ if you... More

This restaurant has a truly beautiful dining room, which is probably its principal attraction in getting people through the doors. But the food lives up to the surroundings - from fresh oysters to choucroute to stunning veal and poultry dishes, everything I have eaten or friends have eaten here has been outstanding. The serving staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful,... More

We stopped in Nancy at the end of our trip through Alsace (on way to CDG airport.) It was a very busy, crowded day in Nancy (the octobre rose half marathon was taking place in city). We had come to see the magnificent Place Stanislas and also to eat at L'Excelsior. Given the crowds, we were lucky even to get... More

We had the misfortune of seeing Nancy in the rain. It was also a bank holiday and most places were closed. We were so happy to be welcomed at L'Excelsior. The place was packed for lunch, but the helpful staff managed to seat us after a brief wait at the bar. This restaurant was established in the early twentieth century.... More

We had to wait a long time for our food. It looked like the service was not very well organized. Food was good. But the interiour of this restaurant is the reason to go there. Nice atmosphere!

Open 7 days - what a change and a pleasant one. Fantastic art deco interior, bright bustling and lively atmosphere make this place truly special. A huge and varied menu means something for everyone. The wine list also is varied in range and price. Service was excellent. If I had a gripe it would be that the price was a... More
