Eating with Mr Edouard.

We had an evening meal at Mr Edouard's. Food was good and the service was prompt. Our French is poor and most of the restaurant staff spoke little English but use of bits of both languages (Franglais?) overcame any problems in understanding the menu and ordering. The sauces used in our meals were... read more

My meal here was very tasty and the lamb was perfectly cooked. I didn't have a starter but chose a dessert instead. Although I don't recall its title fully it was a nougat dessert and was just divine! Well worth a visit. Also a lovely friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

We (two English speaking travelers) went to Chez Monsieur Edouard by our hotel manager’s recommendation. We were the first people in the restaurant which felt a little bit awkward given that we were not even that hungry and could not decide what we wanted for a while. Our orders eventually came out quite random, lacking order and a 'right' sequence.... More

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere in this friendly neighbourhood bistro. All food ordered was excellent. Service efficient and friendly. Highlight for me was the dessert, a poise St Helene, which was to die for. Would definitely recommend.

We visited last week and although there were empty tables, Monsieur Edouard was very unfriendly and just asked if we had made a reservation and then said rudely "complete". Today I telephoned to ask if I could make a reservation for lunch today, he abruptly said no and then simply hung up. I assumed that maybe there was a telephone... More

Recommended by our hotel close by, we wandered into Monsieur Edouard just as it had opened at 7.30 pm. Within 5 minutes the place was packed with locals, so do book (can be done online). With red and white gingham tablecloths and vintage drink adverts on the walls, we half-expected to see the cast of 'Ello, 'Ello sitting down with... More

Arrived to find that the reservation I had made in person did not result in a reserved table. We were seated in a poor cramped table below the bar and very close to the entrance door. The three specials were all steak (bavette, faux filet and entrecote) and the wine by the glass was limited to three choices (red, rose... More

Arrived in Limoges in the evening and needed to go for dinner. We decided on this restaurant which was not far from our hotel. It is a definite locals' restaurant, French ambiance, bistrot type with all sorts of 40-60's framed renouveau adverts. The atmosphere is good and relaxing, the service was at a good pace and very friendly, they speak... More

We were recently in the Limoges area, staying at a farmhouse without meal service. Unbeknownst to us, it was a holiday, and most restaurants were closed. We drove around a bit, finally finding Monsieur Edouard, the only place we found open. Fortunately, we lucked out and had a very good meal. When we arrived, we were the only patrons, so... More

Recommended by the manager of the Inter-Hotel around the corner, the restaurant is a small, typically French style bistro with a great menu selection. Front of House manager / (owner?) is a little quirky and overbearing but grows on you. Food & wine was SENSATIONAL and inexpensive. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
