Solid cuisine

We overheard the clerk at our hotel recommending this restaurant. We would have eaten there every night of our visit to Nimes if we could - it is closed on Sundays at least in early April. Well chosen fresh vegetables to accompany delicious fish on both occasions for me: my friend decided on lamb on our second visit and rated it highly too. Desserts wonderful. What really makes this restaurant... More

We lunched at this delightful restaurant during a visit to Nimes and loved the ambiance. The restaurant is simply but beautifully decorated and the owners are most charming. We enjoyed duck breast with thyme and a risotto, the puddings were wonderful. The food seems to be classic cuisine with top quality ingredients. We all wished that we could visit more... More

Lunch at Le Bistrot Nimois was one of the highlights of my visit to Nimes. Service is very professional and welcoming and they were very acceptant of my small dog. Very comfortable setting, modern decor and quality accompaniments on the table such as Fleur de Sel de Camargue. Very elegant but not intimidating. I chose the entrecôte with daulphine gratinèe... We had an excellent meal here last year and looked forward to returning. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The menu was unimaginative and pretty basic. My wife enjoyed the foie gras entree however my saumon fume was plain smoked salmon which I could have got anywhere in the world. For our mains I had a lamb shank (in Australia I... More

We had an amazing time at Bistrot Nimois. They serve accomplished versions of some of your favorite classic French dishes, with high quality local ingredients. I would say they could maybe use a little more salt in their cooking, but everything was excellent regardless. The service was very professional and welcoming, and the restaurant was part of the experience we... More

We had been recommended this restaurant and it definitely lived up to our expectations, the food was excellent. It was fairly quiet and lacking a little in atmosphere, this was probably due to the time we visited as the season had not yet begun. The service was very friendly and professional.

We stumbled upon this relatively new (4 years) chef-owned restaurant in the old town of Nimes. The decor is timber and plaster with lots of clean lines and dark wood. It was a perfect blending of modern aesthetic with traditional Southern French. The same is true of the beautiful food that they serve. With so many restaurants in town to... More

We stumbled across this bistro and were very pleased we did. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful in explaining to an english speaker the french menu and the food was delicious particularly the foie gras and the duck fillets all at a very reasonable price. Happy to recommend.

We booked into Le Bistrot on our first night of three in Nimes, because of the rave reviews below and because it was a 1 minute walk from our hotel. We ate on the terrace which is pleasant but has no view and is right next to a quite busy road. The service was efficient and the waitress smiley and... More
