A limited menu but very french and pretty good. Don't often see bone marrow on the menu. I also had mixed grilled fish but was assured it had no shellfish but there was a scallop - I'm alergic but no harm done. A good wine list.

Talk about exceptional French cuisine! This small restaurant is run by the owner/chef, his wife/server and a dishwasher and between the three they served up some of the most elegant dishes in the city. Their approach is rudimental yet refined, focussing on flavours and quality. To top off what was already an outstanding experience, when asked about gluten free and... More

We stayed 7 nights in August in Montpellier and went 3 times to La Girafe. Just have a look at the web site of the restaurant.. It is really amazing what magic the owner and cook performs. We look forward to come backs at another season and will certainly enjoy to eat on the first floor of the restaurant.

We booked La Girafe based on recommendations and were not disappointed. We arrived at 8:30 and were the only diners there. However by 9:30 the restaurant was full. The menu is not extensive but would have something to suit everyone. Foie Gras isnt politically correct these days but as a topping on a savoury apricot tart was delicious served with... More

Dinner for 2 -we were first to arrive at 7:30- the restaurant was fairly full by 9:00 on a Friday night. We opted for the fixed menu- reasonable options but execution was only fair. Lamb cocottes were tasty but entrees and desserts were a little lacking- pear and apple crumble was very much underdone and needed cream or ice cream.... More

This restaurant has a little surprise as you climb the stairs, a beautiful ceiling with arches which you can admire while sitting in nice 'pluche' chairs. The food is very good. Value price/quality is excellent.

We ate here halfway through our stay in Montpellier after reading about it in the lonely planet. we nearly walked past the understated little entrance and sign. when we went in to inquire about a table, we actually opted to come back later as we weren't too sure about going in since it looked empty and felt very quiet. we... From house wine to amuse bouche (mushroom bisque in shot glasses) to soup (pumpkin with bacon garnish) to le plat du jour (beef with fois gras and truffles). All well-executed, flavorful, and pretty to look at. The server was lovely. Just the right pace. Appreciated the upstairs seating under the vaulted medieval ceiling. A nice destination for a couple or... More

Very small restaurant run by husband and wife team who have been there one year. We sat inside (smoking phobia) but its true to say that the restaurant is 'terrace based' but the service was still excellent. Good, tasty, well prepared food at reasonable prices. We would have eaten there again but did have the time.
