Excellent food and a great atmosphere

A recommendation from our hotel - much appreciated. A small restaurant serving excellent food in a good atmosphere. Wonderful foie gras and perfectly cooked lamb.

Fantastic little find, recommended by a friendly sole on the forum. A beautiful square, and we were a large group, but the staff could not have been more accommodating. Food was classic French bistro fare, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing cheap in Montpellier( Far more expensive than I remember!), but decent house wines, and a really good night under the... More

We had intended to eat at a nearby restaurant recommended by trip advisor but it was full so we ended up here by chance. How glad we were! The food was excellent, local cuisine but with a twist. The foie gras with pear was delicious as was the ceviche of sea bass with fennel and apple. We had beef as... More

2 people for a late dinner. Super serving of foie gras with vanille pear. Nice tasty piece of entrecote with few things on the side. Amazing the way you get 4 things on the plate and all of it is of very high quality. Good locale wines "en carafe" and a selection of other good wines by the bottle. Very... More

Ate their market fish of the day, which was a grilled whole dorade with a few al dente vegetables on a red coulis, accompanied by a glass of organic white wine. Well prepared, fresh food for less than €20. I couldn't ask for better. Unlike many white wines, their's seemed to contain few or no sulphites.

Had our first lunch in Montpellier here, through recommendation. Not disappointed either, the menu was simple, but delicious. I had a classic onglet with shallots, and a delicious foie gras salad. Simple, but excellently executed. Very reasonable prices, good house wine and sat opposite a charming little square bustling with diners. Very enjoyable meal, and good value.

We stumbled on this place on our first night, trying to find somewhere to sit for a drink in preferably a square but not studenty or too formal. Lovely wine and friendly service. And even though we weren't that hungry as had a late lunch, eventually had some food, I went for the special, filit mignon which was very good,... More

It was surprising seeing several negative comments as we had a really good meal In a nice setting, in a small square.....and only a short walk from our hotel which was near the Place de Comedie On our Sunday night visit It seemed mainly frequented by locals, and not a "tourist trap".....no spare tables to be seen Food was excellent... Ate here with friends as it looked lively. Service was slow. Pig trotters starter were the highlights. Main courses - onglet de bouf tough - cassoulet appeared to consist of mostly kidneys - top of the pepper pot came off so meal had to be replaced - then offered a proper pepper grinder. Typical tourist trap - relying on location... More

We had a very good meal (onglet) on 3 September. Friendly staff and good ambiance - outside in the Square. Not hugely pricey by French standards, but probably a bit more than you'd pay in the UK for similar - though the portions were generous. Definitely one to keep on your list.
