We had the opportunity to visit Carcassonne. So, I've made a reservation in La Barbacane for the 3 course lunch for 38 euro/pp, including 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee … a good deal for a michelinstar restaurant. Visit the website of La Barbacane, make your reservation for free and receive your confirmation in seconds. Stylish and elegant restaurant... More

Last year I visited Carcassonne with my husband and had the wine matched dinner at La Barbacane and it was so wonderful that we booked in again when we visited this time - it remains one of the best wine matched meals I have ever had! And for what you got I think that it is value for money. The... More

The food is excellent and service very good but choice a bit limited. As my wife and I wanted different wines we ordered by the glass. Choice was only one red and one white - rather disappointing when there is such an extensive wine list. Not a cheap dinner, but sitting outside with stunning views certainly makes it special.

We had lunch at the restaurant while staying in the hotel and I found it good value for money and excellent food. The dining area is classical but not too formal. The service is well timed and not intrusive. The set menu for lunch with accompaning wine was a suprise! The Duck tartar as a starter was different and delicate.... More

Stumbling across this 1 star restaurant, i choose it over the numerous (and I mean numerous) multiple award winning restaurant serving Toulouse sausage Cassoulet. The meal was a delight, pictures and menu attached, need I say more?....O.k.the Saugvinon Blanc from Carcassonne, was one of the best wines I've ever drunk. (I seemed to have a bottomless glass of wine...the Evian... More

Michelin seem to be giving out stars like sweeties. This was our last night in France and so chose this restauarnt for a great meal. There was no welcome. You arrive at the bar and stand behind two other parties whilst the barman making cocktails panics to find someone to deal with you, there is no reception point. On being... More

We were at the Barbacane with my wife while staying at the Hotel de la Cite in Carcassone. We often eat at Michelin star restaurants so I will use those as reference for this review. The food The problem with having 1 Michelin star is that you don't really know what you get. 2 or 3 stars gives you a... More

My mother and I stayed at the Hotel. As she is suffering froma long term illness that affects her appetite we were a bit reluctant to pour money into a meal out that she might not enjoy. This is frustrating because both of us are great food lovers. We have had some awful food on this holiday as well so... More

Previous reviews have commented on the grumpy maitre d' - he was obviously grumpy because he was going - or perhaps vice versa... There's now a new, young, very keen and very proud man in charge (Baptiste) who obviously has a good grasp of his brigade and has firm ideas about the right way to do things. Service wasn't quite... I was taken here as a birthday surprise by my sister so knew nothing about the restaurant what so ever. I would say that if you wish a restaurant that is in an amazing setting, its amazingly atmospheric, offers outstanding service and has superb food then this is the place you should head to. My sister bought dinner and I'm... More
