My mother and I stayed at the Hotel. As she is suffering froma long term illness that affects her appetite we were a bit reluctant to pour money into a meal out that she might not enjoy. This is frustrating because both of us are great food lovers. We have had some awful food on this holiday as well so... More

Previous reviews have commented on the grumpy maitre d' - he was obviously grumpy because he was going - or perhaps vice versa... There's now a new, young, very keen and very proud man in charge (Baptiste) who obviously has a good grasp of his brigade and has firm ideas about the right way to do things. Service wasn't quite... I was taken here as a birthday surprise by my sister so knew nothing about the restaurant what so ever. I would say that if you wish a restaurant that is in an amazing setting, its amazingly atmospheric, offers outstanding service and has superb food then this is the place you should head to. My sister bought dinner and I'm... More

So, why is a 1* Michelin restaurant so lowly ranked on TA? My experience in this restaurant is that it is certainly deserving of the star. The service was pampering and professional, the wine list was actually pretty interesting with many affordable options, although obviously not at the same bargain prices as other restaurants in town. The evening started with... More

The hotel is good, but the evening restaurant was a real disappointment. At E34 for a starter, E50 for a main, you expect something special, but no......the carpaccio of lobster was indistinct, the main of turbot was tepid when served/cool at the end, and the 4 chips were like the scraps left in a McDonalds bag . My prawn+pasta main... More

In our travels across Europe this would have to be one of the poorest value dining experiences we have had. The chef's signature dish - cold seasonal vegetables "en bangoule" was bland & flavourless - even the onions- the chef needs a new signature!. It was not worth €34 per dish. Even of less value was the three langoustines for... More

As i was on my own on a Sunday, I booked an early lunch. I was the first there. Within 10 minutes the whole restaurant filled up. Table d'hote was lovely. I had the skate which was very tasty. The chocolate dessert huge. Then sat outside with coffee afterwards. What a beautiful room, and great value lunch. Will definitely go... More

The servings aren't large, but the food is wonderful. We had fish that was perfectly cooked and seasoned and one of the best beef filets I've ever tasted. The desserts are also excellent. The room is a lovely old chateau dining room with big windows and a lovely view of the city.

We stayed at the Hotel and ate the Degustation Menu at La Barbacane to celebrate a 21st birthday in the family. The food and the wine were just superb and reflected the Michelin starred rating. The Deboned Frogs Legs were a standout although any one of the dishes was a rave about item in its own right. The Wine Sommelier... More

We had made reservations at the Hôtel de La Cité for a few nights. We arrived quite late in the evening, traveling all day, and had made dinner reservations for 9:00. The staff was most gracious and bumped our reservations back to allow us to refresh. We enjoyed delicious entrees and plat principals. I chose the quail and my husband... More
