The Best Lunch Deal!

Our last meal in Carcassonne after a wonderful year here. Having toured the country extensively, we'd never actually gone around the ramparts of le Cite (itself a great tour) and half way through, we decided to go to La B for their lunchtime special. Yes, its more than you might look to pay... read more

Nothing else was open in the ramparts so we had to go here, the restaurant at Hotel de la Cité. I think our meal was a fixed price at 129 Euro's per person? Nice old fashioned dining room, views? but you can't see anything at night, good service. All the usual oh so very decorative plates but the taste did... More

Great spot for a special meal. Flawless service in an elegant setting. Best venison I have ever had. Michelin star is well-deserved.

One amazing meal. A beautiful medieval dining room with super comfortable table/chairs...The best foie gras appetizer I had while in France....and I had a lot of them! Great entrees. My wife LOVED her dessert Grand Marnier souffle -- she wouldn't even give me a bite...The servers were spectacular, despite their youth (the sommelier was 19 years old!)...Definitely Michelin-worthy.

So glad we cound La Barbacane. The food, the wine and the service was great. We struggled to find good food inside the walls but here we did! We ate in in Sept of 2013.

We were lucky on check-in to our hotel to find Monday was the only day La Barbacane would be open during our stay, so glad we got to enjoy lunch. 38€ per person for 3 courses including wine and coffee. Every mouthful was divine, the pumpkin soup with mousse and truffles was so very tasty. Beautiful venison casserole which melted... More

We decided to dine in La Barbacane on the two evenings of our stay that it was open, having eaten in simpler, local restaurants in La Cite previously. We looked forward to fine dining, to first class service and all round excellence in keeping with both reputation and inevitably, the price point. On both evenings we began with cocktails and... We were fortunate to enjoy an evening at this restaurant. We believe that a dining experience that is memorable is composed of excellent food, imagination, presentation and service. The theme of the Seasonal Tasting menu the night we were at this restaurant was mushrooms as it is mushroom season. From the prawn starter, through the Brill fish and black pig meat... More

We dined at La Barbacane whilst staying as a guest at the hotel. We had the taster menu and I am afraid the meat course was awful. We were served veal sweetbreads despite me stating I did not eat beef or offal. I was very disappointed; the waiter remarked that he could see I did not like them yet no... More

I took my family here for Sunday lunch, the set menu does offer good value for money, however the service should have been better for a restaurant with 1 star. We had drinks in the bar before going to the table, this meant that we did not go through to the restaurant until much later than the booking, the staff... More
