Good value for what it is

As others have said, this is pretty run of the mill tourist fare for Carcassonne's La Citè ( I think they largely all do the same menu) , but done in pleasant, relaxed surroundings with helpful staff, and in larger than usual portions - and for a very reasonable price. So if you're not splashing... read more

You never know what to expect when you have dinner in such a touristy area like La Cite' with so many places to choose from. We tried La Table Ronde because they had nice live music in the outdoor courtyard and it is a beautiful setting for dinner on a beautiful night. Menu was interesting, prices were reasonable, carafe of... More

Went with friends on a Friday night, food and service excellent. Not over priced the €22.00 menu is good value for money. Will return.

Excellent meal in this reasonably priced restaurant set in a typical Carcassonne courtyard. We went for the 29e 5 course set meal. We were helpully guided through the choices, with tasty aperitifs and substantial starters, but the main course was fabulous with succulent steak accompanied by mediterranean veg cooked in meat juices, creamy butternut squash mash and potato wedges. This... More

My rule of thumb when choosing where to eat in a tourist area is to find the centre - and then walk away from it until the sound of crying children fades to a murmur! There the meals are likely to be less expensive, and the staff know they have to try a little harder. So it was in the... More

Run by a very energetic team, offering attentive and efficient service, we really enjoyed the €22, 4 course menu last night. Local aperitif kicked off the menu which was pleasant and authentic local. Wines were on a limited but good value list. The best 0.5 litre rouge is €10. There are other menus up to €28, and this will be... More

We were lucky again on this find, as many places were closed Easter Monday. We were the last ones to come in for the lunch shift, and sat near a big French family having a get together. The atmosphere was fun and convivial, the service was attentive and we fell in love with the music being played -- a band... More

This was a novel way to eat - sitting under an awning while the rain splashed around us during a couple of heavy showers. We were completely dry. The food was excellent - well-cooked, nicely presented and an excellent simple combination of flavours. It was very busy inside (too wet for most outside) and we were grateful, as the air... More

Two fabulous meals here accompanied by excellent wine. Service was very good but it was the food which made this restaurant exceptional I have enjoyed salads all over the world (except the UK) but here they were perfect. Fresh figs and almonds were in good supply, the salad leaves as if they had just been picked and the garnish superb.... More
