We ate well in Carcassonne. La Marquiere was our most "fine dining" experience. We visited twice and paid about 350, certainly under 400 euros for 6 with a tip and plenty to drink. The food and service were excellent, the room is good and the wine list extensive. If the special order of lamb shank is offered then you should... More

We had lunch at La Marquiere yesterday and will definitely be going back. We have eaten in many many places in Carcassonne and most of them , as other people have mentioned, are crowded, noisy and average at best. This is leagues ahead of the others and we had a wonderful meal. The food was excellent, the service was charming,... More

Closed on Wednesday and Thursday, we'd booked La Marquière as a special treat on our third and final night in Carcassonne. We weren't disappointed. The wind blustered cold behind us as we stepped in from the deserted cobbled streets of the beautiful mediaeval Cité. We found ourselves in a small cloakroom at the foot of a staircase, down which a... More

Irreproachable, impeccable: excellent food, extensive and intelligent wine list, comfortable chairs and tables decently spaced apart, quiet and pleasant ambiance, efficient, unobtrusive service. This is unlike any other place in the medieval city: quality with a capital Q. As you can tell, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there!

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary which happened to fall whilst in carcassonne . How delighted were we?? It was fantastic, food, service and the fabulous ambience of this little 10 table restaurant. It was all topped off by a bottle of champagne organised by our daughters in Australia. If travelling to carcassonne... More

Find on Trip Advisor and well worth its high rating. More expensive than the average in the cité, but we did go all out and enjoyed a couple of dishes subject to extra (steak and foie gras and lobster salad), as well as the wine tasting option. Very small room, bookings a must - currently two to three days in... More

This restaurant was one of 2 we visited whilst on the French House Party Gourmet Explorer (See other review). The whole experience, whilst overlooking the walls of Carcassonne was just fantastic. Its a family run business, Father at the stove and son & his wife serving and making sure the customers have a great time. Food was stunning, an amuse... More

By far the best restaurant of our break. Although more expensive than the others, the menu , the staff and the setting were all excellent - the restaurant is a little on the small side so need to book
