Of all of our meals in Spain, Sardinia, Corsica and France, this was the best. I've never had scallops so tender and full of subtle flavor. The preparation was perfect. And the service was attentive without being fussy. If there is a better meal or a more pleasant place to dine in Carcassonne, I would be very surprised. The average... More

La Marquiere was recommended to us and we couldn't have been more delighted. Nestled on a quiet side street and away from the more touristy parts of La Citie, it's a real gem. Reservations are probably a must. You won't be disappointed. Try the little round chocolate ball dessert. I'm still trying to figure out how they do it. And... More

Tucked away in the northwest corner of La Cité de Carcassonne, La Marquière is an authentic gem in a sea of touristy hash houses. They have a lovely inner-courtyard terrace that is beautifully landscaped and serene, well protected from the tourist hubbub outside. The dining room is expansive and handsomely furnished, although you really do want to shoot for seating... More

The food here was excellent and the staff were helpful and welcoming. We decided to go with the wine pairings and each glass that came went well with the food. This was our favourite meal of the trip and when we return to Carcassonne we will most certainly return to this restaurant. Thank you for a lovely evening.

La Marquiere is a little off the main routes through Carcassonne on the Rue St Jean but is a gem of a restaurant so make sure you seek it out. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is excellent - Debbie and I shared a sardine fillet and pate de foie gras, both of which were delicious,... More

The whole evening was a very pleasant experience with excellent food, pleasant and very efficient service, and attractive surrounds. The whole family were hoping for a memorable evening out and this was exactly what this restaurant delivered. The starters were fresh and original bearing all the hallmarks of great care by the chef in terms of both presentation and balance... More

Their Salmon Tartar was the greatest I've ever had in my life. My husband said it was a great surprise to have such a tender duck stake which has not the slightest bit of the pecular smell of duck meat. We had several "Cassoulets" in different restaurants, but theirs was the best! Their home-made olive was tasted amazingly fresh and... More

Our meal here was one of the absolute highlights of our 3 week trip to France. Looking out over the vista from the heart of the medieval walked city of Carcassonne, it is an almost transcendental setting for a fine meal. The restaurant is decorated in an unstated but homey and elegant fashion. The service is exceptional and sincere. The... More

My partner made the booking ahead of our visit to Carcasonne on reviews he had read. We definitely were not disappointed. The dining experience was delight from beginning to end. From the surroundings to the wonderful attentive service. Entree main and dessert surpassed all expectations and we savoured each taste and flavour... We both chose the fillet with foie grais... Had great reviews on TA so booked lunch on a sunday. We were greeted and taken through the restaurant into a courtyard in the back which was peaceful and quiet. The food was really delicious and presented with flair and precision. I was recommended a rose wine and which was delicate and light, superb. This is michelin standard food for... More
