We ordered from the menu and the food was very good. Our steaks were cooked deliciously and the house red was very nice. However the waitress who served us seemed to require additional customer service training as she was the only downside of our experience.

We enjoyed dinner at this restaurant on a very nice summer evening, with the sun still shining. It is situated in a quieter corner of the walled city in a square that nevertheless has plenty of people passing by and we sat outside on the terrace. The view of the moat and ramparts was special. The service was good, if... More

We go here each time we visit Carcassonne and have never been disappointed. The cassoulet is superb and the ile flotante divine. It doesn't get any more french than that for me. The restaurant is in a superb location on a rise overlooking what I imagine would have been an internal moat. On a sunny day the outside tables are... More

Being an avid reader of the travel publication Wanderlust, I was pleased to see they did a feature on Carcassonne a few months before we were due to travel. I made a note of the restaurant they recommended. Just by luck we came across the Saint Jean as we explored many of the small streets. It was wonderful for a... More

We came into town to have a nice dinner with a view of the fortress. After we were seated, the server brought over our menus and the wine list and was generally attentive. Our wine arrived shortly after we ordered it, and this was the last good thing that happened at the restaurant. Our appetizer took 45 minutes, then we... More

There are plenty of restaurants in the Cite Medievale, and this one stands out. It is a bit hard to find as you have to go down a small street, round a corner before it opens into a small plaza. Le Saint Jean is on the far side. If you sit outside you have a fantastic view of the old... More

We wanted to try the Cassoulet which turned out to be hearty and warm. While we found the service a little bit rude, the food made up for it.

Two of us set out for an enjoyable dinner and this restaurant looked a good prospect. We chose a table and waited for menus and a wine list to appear. Alarm bells should have rung at this stage but we were patient and eventually a waiter appeared. Our order was eventually taken but the service of our courses and wine... More
