Our family of four including two boys of 10 & 11 absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was incredible, from the apps to the main dishes and through dessert. The chefs are mouth magicians, the lamb was the best we have ever had, the cheese and meat app was amazing and on and on. If you have a night in... More

Dropped in one night last week for a quick dinner with a friend, on the recommendation of someone who was there during the summer. The restaurant seemed tatty, worn and not looked after. We waited for so long for our main course, and then when it arrived, it looked as if it had just been thrown together, and with nothing... More

My wife had the Salad Rolle which she claims was the best salad she ever ate and that is a high recommendation but I was a little disappointed. I chose Lamb shank and we sat down as a table of 8. Unfortunately some of the food was very slow arriving and had been under a heat light for far too... More

Had a brilliant evening here in the company of some local friends last week. I should say that, in my opinion, this is not a place to come if you are looking for haut cuisine, rapid or fawning service ... but it is a great place to come if you are looking for generous portions of authentic, well-prepared bistro food,... To me too much fuss with my food, tuna tartare too sour, seiche too much oil and pepper. not so much ginger. Forgot our childrens, menus, no excuses, think you can do a lot better (splendid view of the castle though).

We came to eat here having seen the restaurant from the castle - our mistake. Service abysmally slow, food mediocre and bill overpriced for what we had. There are lots of other lovely looking places to eat in Carcassonne - give this a miss.

I don't know if this place was a great eatery at any point of time but our experience was rather poor. In a town overrun with tourists, I wasn't expecting much - but what we got was even less than the expectations. The food itself is simply average - but the service is rather abysmal. A bunch of young women... More

We went a la carte at the St. Jean and were really surpised at the quality of the cooking when we ordered no cassoulet or foie gras. The starter of Nem with duck and the filet Rossini were delicious if rather copious and the fish was also excellent. Although we had a long wait the service was friendly and attentive.... More

It's hard to find a well-priced meal with flavorful food and a favorable ambiance in a busy touristy city like Carcassonne, but this spot feels different. Although the service was slow, the food was tasty and the lamb with couscous and roasted vegetables was definitely a highlight of the meal. The portion was large, but the lamb was cooked well... My sweetheart and I dined with friends from Chicago and very much enjoyed the experience. I ordered the 11 euro lunch menu which is an outstanding value: a fresh salad, delicious cassoulet, and a floating island or ice cream. All portions were generous. (The cassoulet on the carte was larger than mine but I'm not complaining!) Our server, who spoke... More
