Near our hotel and became busy by 730pm but not strained. Good choice of regular items and a daily specials menu. Explanations in English if needed. Descriptions were clear. We were allowed to take our time and were asked about the food after each serving with genuine interest.

On saturday 13th September I visited this restaurant after a rugby match with some friends. I have eaten there before and was happy to bring friends there. We were seated quickly by extremely friendly staff. However the crowd of people there for dinner meant that the 3 girls were massively overworked. We received our started after 25 minutes and although... More

The castle and city walls makes for a wonderful setting for lunch in the sun. The square was very busy and finding a table meant watching for someone paying their bill and then jumping in the minute they stood up. We only wanted a snack and went for the Croque Monsieur , salad and frites. The thing with this restaurant... More

To be frank I would probably love any restaurant located beside a medieval castle and city wall, but Le Saint Jean also served great food as well as provided a superb location. My wife could not stop talking about how nice the Thai prawn salad was and all ours starters were very good. The main courses if anything were even... More

We ordered from the menu and the food was very good. Our steaks were cooked deliciously and the house red was very nice. However the waitress who served us seemed to require additional customer service training as she was the only downside of our experience.

We enjoyed dinner at this restaurant on a very nice summer evening, with the sun still shining. It is situated in a quieter corner of the walled city in a square that nevertheless has plenty of people passing by and we sat outside on the terrace. The view of the moat and ramparts was special. The service was good, if... More

We go here each time we visit Carcassonne and have never been disappointed. The cassoulet is superb and the ile flotante divine. It doesn't get any more french than that for me. The restaurant is in a superb location on a rise overlooking what I imagine would have been an internal moat. On a sunny day the outside tables are... More

Being an avid reader of the travel publication Wanderlust, I was pleased to see they did a feature on Carcassonne a few months before we were due to travel. I made a note of the restaurant they recommended. Just by luck we came across the Saint Jean as we explored many of the small streets. It was wonderful for a... More
