Great Service, Great View, and Best Cassoulet in Carcasonne

My wife and I had lunch at Le Saint Jean on a very, very hot day in Carcasonne. The restaurant has a large outdoor dining area almost completely covered by large white umbrellas; large pots planted with petunias lined two sides of the dining area. When we arrived, not many people were there, but... read more

We eat here on a terrace with some heater, was Novemeber. The service is good, perhaps a bit slow, but not very much. The dinner was excellent and abundant. The carnard filled wit foie is a must.

We wondered into Le Saint Jean because our friends were staying nearby. We had a morning coffee and the coffee and service were excellent. Before leaving I looked at the menu (which is augmented by a small slate crried around by the servers). Later as we were surveying restourants in other parts of town, I suggested we try Le Saint... We enjoyed lunch so much that we returned and enjoyed dinner just as much. Lunch was a giant and gorgeous duck and chèvre salad with pitcher rose and crackly-crust bread. All of the ingredients were divine, and between bites we could admire the Chateau next door. We returned for dinners of excellent duck and the best steak tartare either of... More

We were recommended this restaurant and it was a good choice. I had the dinner menu with a greek salad, fish with sweet potato puree and a strawberry soup with cream. Every dish were delicious and tasty and especially the main course had nice details on it. Nice looking portions and friendly service.

Near our hotel and became busy by 730pm but not strained. Good choice of regular items and a daily specials menu. Explanations in English if needed. Descriptions were clear. We were allowed to take our time and were asked about the food after each serving with genuine interest.

On saturday 13th September I visited this restaurant after a rugby match with some friends. I have eaten there before and was happy to bring friends there. We were seated quickly by extremely friendly staff. However the crowd of people there for dinner meant that the 3 girls were massively overworked. We received our started after 25 minutes and although... More

The castle and city walls makes for a wonderful setting for lunch in the sun. The square was very busy and finding a table meant watching for someone paying their bill and then jumping in the minute they stood up. We only wanted a snack and went for the Croque Monsieur , salad and frites. The thing with this restaurant... More

To be frank I would probably love any restaurant located beside a medieval castle and city wall, but Le Saint Jean also served great food as well as provided a superb location. My wife could not stop talking about how nice the Thai prawn salad was and all ours starters were very good. The main courses if anything were even... More

We ordered from the menu and the food was very good. Our steaks were cooked deliciously and the house red was very nice. However the waitress who served us seemed to require additional customer service training as she was the only downside of our experience.
