This restaurant is inside the picturesque walled city of Carcassonne so it has a lot going for it to start with. We lunched here and had a decent enough meal. However, the service was slow and some of the staff did not look that interested in speeding up. This was inexcusable as there are plenty of other restaurants close by.... More

Recommended by our hotel. Best cassoulet I have ever tasted. Very charming waiting staff with good english. Only marred by noisy witless Daily Mail reading Brits that seem to throng the city.

Hey, this is Carcassonne, one of the most visited sites in France. Don't complain that it is touristy. Sit back and enjoy the food and wine and take in the street scene. This is not great food, but consider the location and the fact that this is as good as it gets -- short of very, very expensive -- in... More

Our waitress was very pleasant and we ordered our food with high expectation. Service a Was a little slow on a not very busy evening but we were on holiday and being relaxed did not mind too much. Three of us had cod with tapenade which duly arrived. It looked very nice but serving fish on stone cold plates made... More

Sunday night and we were looking for a quiet bistro. This one did not live up to expectations. Food was average, service worse than that. We sat at our table for 30 minutes with menu in hand and no staff even looked our way. And then the 'kicker'. The electricity in the bistro went off 6 times! Not exactly a... More

Visited Sep 2013. Not a busy day and arrived with a number of tables free / empty. Service was very slow and a number of patrons seemed unhappy about the wait from their body language. Went for the 11 euros set lunch menu. Salad was good, cassoulet tasted nice but a high % of bacon fat rather than bacon. Ice... More

We were hoping to eat lunch at the restaurant in the Hotel de la Cite but as we hadn't booked we were out of luck (May 2013). I asked if the hotel could suggest another restaurant and the only other place they were prepared to recommend was Le St Jean. We took their advise and we were not disappointed. The... More

Yummy meal enjoyed the best of french cuisine, foie gras, chevre, cassoulet, magret de canard - all enjoyed against the fabulous backdrop of the Carcassonne Castle and its ramparts.

The menu translated into english looked a bit dull - which meant the food was a very pleasant surprise. The smoked salmon with cream/chives was delicious as was the tomato and mozarella salad. The only disappointment was the house white - wish we had ordered a specific bottle. Also great value and the salads looked incredible - though we didn't... More

We had lunch here on a sunny august day. It was pretty busy and service was a tad slow because of it. We had the casserole with preserved duck, the salad with duck and fruit and two kids menus with mussels. The salad and casserole were very nice and our kids liked their menus. It was a good lunch, though... More
