This is a nice traditional French style restaurant on two levels with a very good location on the edge of the main market square in Versailles. As the previous reviewer mentioned Le Boeuf a la mode delivers the classic French dining atmosphere with the classic French service levels (there must be a waiter school somewhere to be able to learn... Last Wednesday enjoyed a dinner with two business partners one local who suggested this spot. Atmosphere inside was lively and classic; true French. Service was also "classic"; even with expectations for that anticipated; it was far too rushed and impatient; and our server never returned post appetizers until the bill to check on meal or to offer more drinks even... Maybe during the day when the market is open it may be better but during the evening the atmosphere outside was not great, sitting on a sidewalk in an ugly area. The food was average. I wanted French food but the choices were limited and so ended up with a prawn stir fry, not good at all. The 5 prawns... More

A nice table on the market square is a great find on a busy market day. We enjoyed excellent service and a nice lady ordered a taxi to take us back to our somewhat distant hotel after lunch. Superb Vin Blanc with frisée and Melon Charantais with local ham make for a great lunch at an agreeable price.

Very much felt like a neighborhood cafe. Not fancy. Staff was very busy but attentive. So many local places but this one had fewer smokers outside. Good enough for a one-time visit. Probably would have looked for a better place if we hadn't been hungry. Smoking has ruined the outdoor cafe experience in France. Had to say it. We non-smokers... More

We did a walk past this restaurant on our first night in Versailles and earmarked it for our second night. We arrived early 6 .30 pm and had not booked ,the restaurant while we were there was very busy. We had a great set of starters and our mains were good with my lady partners chicken being a little dry.... More

Ordered one lamb shank and three steaks. All three steaks were cold and impossible to cut or chew. Waiters agreed to replace them with three new meals. I didn't want another bad meal so just two were replaced.when bill arrived they had charged for one of the steaks that went back. Eventually rectified. Cannot recommend this place at all. There... I had been here several times already, as I am often in Versailles. The only reason I kept going here was for one single starter: The Pata Negra ham (which is outstanding). The rest of the menu seems quite mediocre, it really depends on which night it was. Stay away from the 'French Burger' which they advertise so proudly, but... More

We selected this restaurant on a rainy day in Versailles after a wander through the market and were very happy with our choice. It seemed to be filled with mostly local people. The staff was patient and took time to explain the menu. The cheeses that they served were interesting and delicious. We had an unexpectedly good lunch with very... More
