A Perfect Dinner

I had perused the Bistrot du Boucher's menu while walking back to my Hôtel du Cheval Rouge, liked what I saw in way of the daily special: only €18 or so for a multi-course meal. Alas, I should've read more closely. That was for lunch. But dinner was still reasonably priced, and I immensely enjoyed... read more

Walking through this small, charming town, we were attracted to the outdoor patio of this place. We do not speak much French, and our server spoke little English, but we had a good meal and fine time. Two of us had the special terrine on dark bread with a small salad, and two of us had large salads with bacon... More

Good basic brasserie food, but at a price and with appallingly slow service. It is however the archetypal French Brasserie. Pichets of wine are good value, but bread was stale. Portions large, but unimaginative. Overall a very average place.

I picked this restaurant because it was recommend by our nearby hotel, Hotel Richaud, which was also excellent, and it also had good reviews. The service was attentive, quick but not too quick, and the staff extremely friendly and although they spoke excellent English they conversed in French when we did. The fully inclusive menu, 3 courses including wine, was... More

We had the fresh salmon with lemon-herb sauce and the steak with Bearnaise sauce. Both were well-prepared and delicious! We ate outside at a little table because the weather was gorgeous and we wanted to soak up the atmosphere! This café was located not far from our hotel, Hotel du Cheval Rouge– very convenient!

We dined here twice. The first time the food was delicious the second was pretty average and a bit of a disappointment.

I love this little place because it is traditional and typical and still in this location (foot walk from tourist magnet). But thanks god no groups and still many locals who enjoy a lunch like in the old days. Foie gras / tartare and fantastic fish we tried (brass/dorade). Really nice prepared. Excellent taste and professional herbs/sauces. The waiters are... More

We've eaten at Le Bistrot du boucher three times and have enjoyed our meals. Okay, it's centre of town and pretty commercial, but if you accept that from the outset you'll not be disappointed. The food is just fine (never any problems), the waiters are seasoned pros and the atmosphere can be awesome! The last time we went was a... More

Having missed the lunchtime service we returned for early evening on the advice of a local, for good classic French food. Disappointing is one word, unimpressed even better. The seating outside was so close together, you move and your neighbour has to!! Staff were friendly and helpful and our order taken quickly. For entrees we order courgette flan with Crayfish tail...
