Description: Fil'O'Fromage restaurant and traiteur in Paris near the Francois Mitterand...
Fil'O'Fromage restaurant and traiteur in Paris near the Francois Mitterand Library is the answer to a cheese-lover's prayer. As artisanal cheeses become rarer (cheese making and keeping is a labour-intensive artform not suited to the media studies generation), passionate experts like Cherif Boubrit, the guiding spirit of Fil'O'Fromage, become more precious. He tastes his dozens and dozens of beautifully-kept cheeses every day and pairs them perfectly with one of 130 wines so that you, the client, can benefit from his great expertise. The restaurant is a relaxed and buzzing affair, with wooden tables and chairs, a constantly-changing display of art and photographs, and musical, poetic and theatrical soirees. What to eat? Have the Assiette Gourmand: three varieties of cheese with three kinds of charcuterie from the same regions. And have the wines to match, of course.

Recommended if you are in the area

Great variety of cheeses and cold meats mixed with salad vegetables and fruit in a big platter, it looks beautiful and it tastes even better. It can be paired with wine if so you desire. 16.5€ for each platter, which if you are not very hungry you could share with your partner. There is a big board... read more

The place selected because of the variety of cheese (250!). We visited it for lunch and while some clients passed by to buy, there were only 2-3 couples sitting. The waiter (owner?) was friendly and very helpful. His proposals (one for me and one for my wife) were EXCELLENT. Cheeses that really can charm up despite that every plate had... More

Go here. Just do. If you like cheese and wine, you will be in heaven. Not in a touristy area but a quick metro ride on line 14. The owner is sooo passionate about cheese. He will prepare a masterpiece of cheese with accompanying wine and jam and vegetables and meats, and explain the way to eat them to make... More

Hidden away at the bottom of the road is this cheese fest . This place specialises in cheese, cured meats and wine fro around France. It's a simple recipe that works really well. We had the savoyorade and loved every one of the selection that came on the plate. And they have about 20 other options that I'm sure would... More

To really get an induction to french cheese this may be the place to go. We tried at least 60 different types and fondue, and we got a lot of intro talks for support. Fun and delisious

Brilliant artisinal cheeses and a passionate chef/owner. An education in wine cheese pairings. Casual ambiance but don't be fooled. They take their food very seriously. .Although I too would say this is a "tasting" situation the plates are extremely filling (leave room for the great desserts). Hidden gem. Do not miss. HIGHLY recommended.

This is no ordinary restaurant so don't be fooled by its' casual, snack-bar like ambiance. The chef here lovingly crafts an array of platters of deli meats and cheeses, each themed to its own region. Not only will you be able to sample delicious varieties, but Chérif, the chef/owner will tell you how to maximize your taste experience by eating... More

Located in the new hip part of town, I would highly recommend this place to my Canadians and North American friends who want to get an education/ initiation in cheeses and be surprise by wines. The guy who runs the place is totally intense and passionate about his thing and the selection kicks as¨#!! Unique.

Think of this as not so much a restaurant as a tasting. We turned up in late afternoon in our sightseeing clothes so we were at the cafe style tables downstairs but as long as you are more interested in substance than style this place is amazing. A beautiful plate of regional cheeses matched to each of our tastes by... More
