Wonderful ambiance and service, unjustified prices

Compliments to all of the fantastic staff at Laperouse. Also, the 18th-century setting and atmosphere created a wonderful ambiance and makes for a beautiful evening out. That said, for the prices I expect phenomenal, memorable dishes, not just fine/no complaints/decent. My bill came to €200 with... read more

Yes the restaurant is expensive but it is worth every penny. A huge thank you to Alexander the waiter/manager who not only gave us a lot of attention and a... More

Ok, there was a heathave in Paris but no airconditionning nor fan in the salon La Boussole! We were in an oven... Service was friendly and discreet, food was ok but not amazing. Lapérouse is an institution in Paris, you close your eyes and you are in the XVIIIth century, the atmosphere is perfect. But I think it is time... More

Dear Elisabeth, First we really apologize ! That a shame about air conditioned. i was working it was really hot , and we are not expecting this temperature in Paris (42° degres ). Then it's pleasant if you like this XVIII atmostpher, and we gonna renovate the bulding soon, with a new menu but we keep the same service !... More

Found this restaurant through the grape vine and was excited to make a reservation. Echoing some previous reviews, our 9:00pm reservation left us as one of very few couples that evening. We were seated toward the back of a smaller side room, which is was nice and secluded and had one of the limited views out across the water. It... More

Three of us had the set lunch at Laperouse. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is truly unique. So much history to the place. Our server gave us a tour. He was a very nice young man who made us feel welcome. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We chose from the set menu but I really wanted... More

A group came here for a business dinner, and they did everything possible to make it a memorable evening. Each party has a private room, and the chef pre-sets the menu; you can either be surprised or have it described before you begin. Every course was simply outstanding, even by Paris standards.

We chose a salon privee at Laperouse for our wedding (elopement) dinner. After a long day of photos, we were ready to relax. The private room was lovely as we got to enjoy each other's company in private. The place has so much history, you can't but help feel it! The food was very good, especially the butter. We had... My daughter and I had the most amazing experience of our visit to Paris at this gem in St. Germain. We passed it for days admiring the architecture and the beautiful sign. My daughter really wanted to experience a french salon while in Paris. She also knew of the Victor Hugo connection to the restaurant. When we realized it was... More

My wife aim at a high end restaurant ever couple of days for lunch (I.e. One Large French meal will last U.S. The rest of the day). We made reservations at the Laperouse, but need not have as we had almost the entire place to ourselves. We had a set dinner - I both had the lobster soup and this... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
