Great place

I have been going to this place for over 30 years on my too infrequent trips to Paris. I was saddened when I heard that the original owner, Robert Cointepas had sold the business and subsequently passed away. He was a bit of a curmudgeon, but added lots of color to the place. The new owners are... read more

A real find - very friendly welcome, great French food and a good selection of wine. We arrived and it was packed with locals but were warmly welcomed with our young son and had a great meal. Will definitely return!!

We've been to Paris three times in three years and always make the time to visit. We always go for a bottle of red wine and a cheese platter for two. It's excellent. The guy who served us this time was friendly and knowledgable. Made to feel very welcome. It's just slightly off of the beaten track and when we've... More

This is restaurant is such a gem. Great charcuterie and cheeses. Great wine. Truly attentive owner. Yes, it happens to be in a really busy tourist area, but it's also small and special and doesn't at all feel like a tourist trap. Please go!

Very slightly off the heavily beaten path of tens of thousands of trippers every day. Slightly refreshing therefor that it is not overrun and is still somewhere that you can pause for a couple or three glasses of wine and perhaps a small snack. Friendly and convivial.

I am not sure how this place has so many great reviews. We ate here for lunch, and ordered le duo jamons. Way too much cheese for me. The service was nice and the restaurant is quaint, but it did feel like we were at a bar where the finest item to cook food in was a toaster oven.

My wife and I first visited this little wine bar in 1993 and nothing has changed in over twenty years. It has excellent wine selection, cheeses, and cured meats. It is not luxurious, but a friendly place for lunch or early dinner. We believe it is actually the best wine bar on the Seine. But you should know a few... More

So, boyfriend proposed on NYE in Place Dauphine at around 3pm. We were pretty ravenous, and most of the other places in the little square (if you can call it a square) appeared shut, this didn't, so we made the executive decision on the spot and walked in. It was really rather twee. I loved it. Small and intimate, which... More

Stopped into this place by accident one night, wife and I shared a meal. was impressed enough to make a point to come by again a few days later for more. The staff were really helpful and welcoming, the wine was nice (this fantastic Gewürztraminer). the menu isn't large but what they do serve is good, first day we had... More

Average food, expensive. We had tartines for lunch and thought the quality and quantity could not justify the price. Good point: The owners were very welcoming and nice.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
