Four of us went to the Henri IV for a light supper after watching the World Cup match at the nearby Highlander pub (also very good). We had read that Henri IV was good, but were forewarned that if you didn't speak French don't bother. Nothing could be further from the truth, at least in our experience! We made a... More

I discovered this little Bistro close to the Pont-Neuf years ago with a friend and did not find it again until my husband came with me to Paris. He knows his way around and so we were once again able to enjoy a lovely lunch at Taverne Henri IV. As was the case during my first visit, again only the... More

My wife and I ate "dinner" at the Taverne the day we arrived in Paris--it was close to our hotel and served food early. We loved the simple, what I believe is authentic simple French tavern food. The food was well prepared and reasonably priced. The wine recommended by our server was perfect. Given the service and the very reasonable... More

We were there in July and had their house summer salad. So tasty! Here's a blog I wrote about it: http://www.zengirlchronicles.com/2014/05/the-art-of-perfect-summer-salad.html Best location, right next to the river and walking distance to the Louvre.

Great spot for lunch located on the south side of the Pont Neuf, on the ile de la Cite. Gets very crowded with locals for lunch, so make reservations. The food is excellent, with daily selections on the reader boards. Country dishes with many meats, pates and salads. My friend had a sausage with lentils dish which was fantastic as... More

This is the oldest wine bar in Paris; that in itself should be enough to interst you. Luckily, it is also warm and welcoming, with a great selection of French wine. I have been there on two separate visits, and was delighted each time with the wine and the knowlege and friendliness of the young man who tends bar. His... More

Corner site. Nothing special but friendly place to drink and snack. Heart of tourist land just by the Pont Neuf. Retains simple Parisian cafe feel. Prices average. Food straightforward and well presented.

This place looks like the set of 'allo 'allo and could not be more typical of french country restaurant if it tried. But the food is good as is the service and they do other than charcuterie.

Once or twice a year I come to Paris, and this is a must - again mostly for the atmosphere and the delicious plates of foie gras, charcuterie and fromages! They develop their hot dishes menu but I stick to the authentic tartines or plates. On this visit, it was very quiet - for a change. Between Christmas and New... More
