Nothing special

We decided to have a meal in the Chinese quarter of Bellevue. I ordered a papaya salad and beef with black beans. My son has spare ribs. I decided to try the salty prune drink I had heard about, but it was extremely salty and thus undrinkable for my taste. Overall nothing special.

This place was a savior after a long night of dancing and drinks. Contrary to other reviews, everything we had was actually very good. We ordered the black mushrooms, shrimp with broccoli, beef with spices, and pork with scallions. All very good. Good spice. And the food came very fast- crazy fast. AND!!! They are open until 1:30am!

Although my first experience here was disappointing, I now come to eat at Le Pacifique almost every week! This place is tricky because it has a huge menu echoing a lot of different aspects of Chinese cuisine, and they simply can't excel at everything. For instance, the first time I came I ordered some crispy duck with rice and it... More

Many talk of the lack of high quality Chinese food in Paris outside the rather remote Chinatown quarter near Porte de Choisy, and with cause. Le Pacifique, a little way up the hill of the multi-ethnic rue de Belleville, looks the part with its paper tablecloths and large fishtank, and is by no means a wasted journey for the lover... More

The thing that shocks me most about most of the reviews in here is that the reviewers genuinely believe that the dim sum here is great. This is absolutely rubbish - caucasians really know absolutely nothing about what constitutes great flavourful but most importantly, AUTHENTIC dim sum. The dim sum here is really just bearable - they taste of meat... More

You don't come here for the faded Chinese lacquered decor, which has long since seen better days. You do come here for the food. Have heard that the dim sum is quite good here. We opted to have dinner since it was, well, dinner time and dim sum is for breakfast/brunch. We ordered the roasted pork on a bed of... More

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighborhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
