Great place if you like rum!

I came across this place by accident and so glad I did. I stupidly did not notice it really only serves rum cocktails until I asked for a whiskey... Still, the waitress was good humoured about it. We ordered a Mojito and it was delicious! The atmosphere in the bar is really nice... Relaxed but... read more

Went there for drinks in the late afternoon, enjoying a relaxing moment before starting to think about dinner. The place does not look like much from the outside but has its charms on the inside - it really is a standard Paris cafe layout, brushed over with tropical tones. The place is very busy and customers looked happy with both... More

Very good rum drinks and codfish fritters. reminds us of the days laying around in the french Caribbean islands. Great on a hot day.

We ate lunches, each had a plat du jour, pork, red beans, rice, or, salmon grilled with veggies. All were ok, not particularly hot, and had the sense of being prepared earlier. This place seems to be known for drinks, but we tried the food. Ok, but not so special on that day.

You don't have to be Rum drinker to enjoy this place, but it sure doesn't hurt! Any place that has my all-time favorite, a 15 yr old from Haiti, is getting 2 thumbs up. For the cocktail-er, choose from mojitos, daiquiris, Mai tai's, colada's, this is a fun joint with glass windows all around for top notch people watching in... More

We stopped by here for drinks. We did not eat here, but the food looked pretty good. We got mojitos and they did taste good, but seemed to be mostly ice. Another bar that we stopped by later actually had better drinks with less ice. They had a great selection of mixed and tropical drinks though. The place is packed... More

The Rhumerie is a cute little "gingerbread looking" spot with great West Indian ambience and a vast variety of rum drinks. Went with friends and we were all able to find a rum to suit our various tastes. One friend asked for and was served a Haitian rum he hadn't had in years. I love Jamaican dark rum and had... More

My husband and I met my six french cousins here for drinks before dinner. It's definitely a mixed crowd. We ranged in age from about 50 to 70, and everyone loved it. The drinks menu is long and heavily rum-focused (no surprise given the name). I had a very good caipirinha, My cousins all had mojitos and liked them. My... More

This place has been a "classic" for soooo many years, and it well deserves its reputation. The crowd ( try 7pm on saturdays !) ranges from millennials to former Presidents ! It serves good "french caribbean" restaurant food for lunch, but it's best known for rum cocktails... Venture in around 6:30 pm when some tables are still available, and treat... More

After we did the Catacombs of Paris tour, we decided to try this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Food is really good and by Paris standards cheap! I had chicken breast with fried sweet plantains. Delicious!!!

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
