Can't go wrong with this little gem.

Lovely restaurant on a side street on the island close to Notre Dam. Waitress was very attentive, advising on a couple of excellent wines. We were surprised to find this place amongst all the tourist traps. Its small but the menu is comprehensive and everything we tried was good with the exception of the squid ink risotto which was a bit slimy. More fool me for picking an Italian dish!! Recommended!

6 of us had dinner here. Everyone thought that their meal options were good but not great. The atmosphere is very casual, like a pub, and the service was friendly and very good. The prices are very reasonable. None of us had any complaints. We were just spoiled by outstanding food at other Paris restaurants.

We've been there a number of times over the years - when the food was elaborate and the service attentive. It now feels like a tourist trap where they try to nickel and dime you over set price menus when you share it with your 7 years old kid.

Hi sir, I'm Julien, I'm managing the place for the last 8 years.and I was there on monday for lunch when it seemed that you had a problem. I did not come to see you you when I shall and I apologize about that. I went straight away to see the waitress and inquired myself about your complains. I ask... More

A very attractive little pub which is full of character and charm, next to Notre Dame. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly barman, who took our drinks order. We sat at a small table near the bar. Although we didn't go through the small tunnel-like corridor to the dining room, it looked as quaint as the bar area.... More

Horrible meal was my first meal in Paris. We ordered the Entrecote, Fois Gras, and Squid Ink Pasta. The steak was literally inedible it was like rubber I could not chew it or barely cut it. It seemed tasty but too bad I could not digest it. Pasta was ok nothing special. The waitress did not even ask why we... More

Bonjour Monsieur, We are sorry that we did not gave you satisfaction, we should inquired ourself about why you did not finish your meals "Entrecôte" it's one of our best sales but it is definitely a greasy part of the beef and we do specify on our menu to eat it rare or medium rare because it can get "rubber"... Au Bougnat is almost literally in the shadow of Notre Dame, but you'd never know it because it's hidden away on a quiet street. The small dining room gets crowded in the evening, but you can reserve online or by phone, and even without a reservation you'll be warmly welcomed. The prix fixe menus, served at both lunch and dinner,... More

This was a nice little restaurant with friendly staff very close to Notre Dame. The food was basic and nice. What put me off a little is that when you visit the toilets, they are down a stairs in the basement where there is a door open straight in to the kitchen. That always puts me off. Other than that... In such a handy location for sightseeing, this restaurant was perfect for an early dinner after visiting Notre Dame. The place was pretty quiet but it was really nice inside and the two ladies serving were very helpful. The food was nice and tasty, and we took the cheese out to one of the small tables outside and managed to... More

This tiny Parisian restaurant served very good food at a fast pace. Some of the dishes ordered were the delicious escargot starter. And 2 main dishes, the first being a beautiful roasted duck and glazed peach combination. I really liked this dish and was quite impressed with the peach and duck combination. Second main was a roasted chicken fillet with confit... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
