When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. The success of the well-known concept is based on a simple, but effective idea: long rows of tables, mixed salads, grills and wine served from the barrel, all in gigantic quantities. Also worth mentioning is the outstanding welcome which contributes to the friendly atmosphere. Dinner menu : 40€ Lunch menu : 14€

Lots of food: 3+ stars

The restaurant was a bit difficult to find, but once we did, we found the atmosphere to be entertaining. There was plenty of food and wine served, and our entire party, even the children, enjoyed the meal. Some of the service was family style, and some was plated. Everyone enjoyed the meal, even... read more

Simple but great. The menu is short, but quality food. They have a fixed menu and yet delivers such a quality lunch. We loved the atmosphere and were made to feel extremely welcome. Paris has a lot of restaurant with excessive price but this one is a very good deal and is well worth a detour. The secret is that... More

I have eaten at NALG many times over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed, whether that was for a "diner a deux" or a group of work colleagues where we ended up standing on a table in the cellar singing regimental marching songs! Don't go to this place with unrealistic expectations. It is an all you can... More

Nice food in a very nice themed restaurant. A different experience that takes you to ancient Gaul . All you can eat starters and wine a nice main course (meat only, so fish lovers stay away). You surely have a wonderful meal.

If you want to expect good food it is a wrong place. This is the place for the worst entrecote. Eventhough they are serving meat as main dish I can bet you can not find such a bad entrecote in Paris. Wine is Bordeaux. But it was just better than vinegar... salad bar is open buffet if you dont like... More

Hi Bulent, We are very sad to read your comment, and we would like to answer to your points. Regarding the meat, first. Considering the enormous quantities of food we serve in our unique formula, for 40€ of course we can't offer Black Angus as a main dish. Still, our entrecote is not as bad as you pretend, and regarding how... More

I ate here over 15 years ago and it obviously made an impression on me as when I came back to Paris last weekend I suggested it to a friend of mine who thought it sounded like fun. The concept is very simple; fresh food, lots of it, unlimited red wine and entertainment. This all adds up to a fun... More

My expectations were low when I agreed to go to this restaurant. I thought it would be low quality food in a corny atmosphere. I could not have been more wrong. The atmosphere was warm and friendly (I'd recommend arriving after 8, it's a bit quiet early on), the all-you-can-drink wine was surprisingly good, and the food was very tasty.... More

I had no idea what to expect when we arrived. The vegetable basket was stunning and raw and delicious. We were then told to go fill up our tanker with wine from a barrel! Bottomless. Then go and fix a shared plate of cured meats and nibbles. THEN came the meat and bread. Then in the candlelit cave pops out... More

My wife is a true food critic. We lived in New York for many years. Anyone that does not enjoy this restaurant needs to take life less seriously and enjoy pure fun. They have delectable vegetable baskets. Never seen anything like this before. Lots of wine, serve yourself. And it is very good. I am a connoisseur of wine, and... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
