When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. This is much more of an experience than a meal. The whole idea is to have a similar meal as the ancient people of the Gaule. Portions are huge including both food and drinks. This is a place to go and have fun much more than to expect the cream of the crop of french cooking.

I fell myself in a time-tunnel, with very good meal, mood, scene, service. The duck was delicious, and the wine very honest.

Back for my 45th anniversay of eating, drinking and having fun. Prix Fixe menu, medieval decor (dating back a 1000 years), unlimited wine, sausages and cheese, and thats just before dinner. Wandering minstrels and community seating. On one side this time a Brazilian couple, on another 3 german couples, and behind us several french couples and across teh aisle 4... More

The whole experience here was so much from beginning to end. You get seated with other people depending on the table. You are greeted with a large basket of vegetables that you can munch on as you please and as much as you want. But WAIT! Don't fill up on just veggies!!! There is other small appetizer buffet style that... More

Let me first say that i live next door. It is indeed a restaurant for tourist (french or foreigners) but it s also an institution. If you want to spend a fun night in the heart of paris, have more than decent food and wine (the wine is good. Really good). This is the place. If ypu want something fancy... More

We arrived slightly early but we were greeted and seated immediately, atmosphere is very good, slightly unusual way of dining but I thought it added to the overall ambiance of the whole place. Our waiter had little English, but was much much better than our French. He was very polite and patient as he explained the situation. When we had... More

I visited this place over 30 years ago enjoying it then. We went for the fixed price menu at 40 euros with a help yourself wine lake and salad bar. The location is easy to find and reservation made via trip adviser. We were early but the staff welcomed us escorting us to our table before the briefing on how... More

Simple but great. The menu is short, but quality food. They have a fixed menu and yet delivers such a quality lunch. We loved the atmosphere and were made to feel extremely welcome. Paris has a lot of restaurant with excessive price but this one is a very good deal and is well worth a detour. The secret is that... More

I have eaten at NALG many times over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed, whether that was for a "diner a deux" or a group of work colleagues where we ended up standing on a table in the cellar singing regimental marching songs! Don't go to this place with unrealistic expectations. It is an all you can... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
