When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. The success of the well-known concept is based on a simple, but effective idea: long rows of tables, mixed salads, grills and wine served from the barrel, all in gigantic quantities. Also worth mentioning is the outstanding welcome which contributes to the friendly atmosphere. Dinner menu : 40€ Lunch menu : 14€

Disappointing

We visited this restaurant for the first time this year, normally we go 'next door' however with that place having closed down we thought we'd try Nos A. From the moment we stepped inside it felt gimmicky. The staff were not interested in serving or engaging with their customers, tables were TINY... read more

A nice change of pace in Paris--on a quiet side street, low energy but decent food. We chose from the menu, but the buffet looked very nice. The food was well cooked, the wine selection not bad. The wait staff was laid back and kind, knew just when to approach the table for questions or suggestions. We even had a... More

We ate at and reviewed a restaurant that was called Le Tavern De L'Sargeant Recruiteur or something very similar to that when we were in France last. We ate there three times. We loved it. All you can eat basket of sausages brought right to your table. Fast Forward to 2015. Sargeant Recruiteur is gone. But next door, long before... More

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Paris. The Rick Steves Paris guide was very useful, and certainly helped make our trip a success. However, we were led astray by the book's recommendation for this restaurant. The book gave the restaurant a pretty good review and the atmosphere sounded fun (we're medieval history buffs), so my... I tell everyone I know that is going to visit Paris to have dinner here. I had the best time! The food was pretty good but its the atmosphere that makes it so special. Live music, everyone in the restaurant singing....not to mention the free flowing beaujolais. I'm almost afraid to go again, because it might not be as good,... More

This actually turned out to be our favorite family dinner. Went with our 3 teenage boys. Very quaint and rustic atmosphere. Food was good and plenty, as was the wine (for the adults). Enjoyed the guitarist who played French melodies throughout the evening. Thanks for a great evening!

A unique experience amongst the outdoor patios and cafes of the Ile Saint Louis. We walked in on a Sunday evening to a packed restaurant (which is deceptively extremely large). The staff were quick but helpful and polite. For a crowded lively restaurant, they were calm and well in control. You start with a giant basket of self serve veggies,... More

Hunting trophies on the walls, fresh vegetables served on the table, self service bread, amusing staff. Food is buffet based, traditionally unchanged menu according to the staff. Slightly different than typical Parisian french style restaurant. Enjoyable, worth to visit.

In my last visit, the waiter did not speak English and did not want to try to understand me, now the situaction was really different, the waiter could speak basic English for communication.....and the food and mainly the unique experience were (as always) great!

A truly unique restaurant. An ambience that transports you to a much older France. You cut your own sausage from a bushel of choices. You make up your salad from a basket of vegetables. Pick a meat and they prepare it for you. The interior is original to this ancient building and the wait staff dress the part. Very casual... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
