General pieces of information: There are many places specialized in galettes and crêpes in this street, it is famous for it. While crêpes are white flour made and always sweet, galettes are buckwheat flour made and always savory. Galettes (and perhaps crêpes as well) are traditionally from Bretagne, the Northern coastal area of France, close to the English channel and... More

Very casual creperie with savoury crepes. Was a nice dinner and provided a good alternative to some of the overpriced food that is common in Paris. Don't come expecting white linen service, but come with an open mind and a relaxed attitude and enjoy a staple of French cuisine. We were the only non locals and the staff were attentive... More

On New Year's Day, this was one of the few creperies open on rue de Montparnasse, and I'm glad it was. It's a tiny place a few tables, but we were seated fairly quickly and served by a young and friendly waiter. Our food was cooked by an equally young chef, but our galettes (savory buckwheat crepes) were traditional, simple,... More

Explored Rue du Montparnasee looking for a likely spot for dinner and were surprised to discover 6 or 7 creperies on this street and each and every one was packed on a Sunday night. Finally decided we should see what all the excitement was about and chose Les Cormorans because they actually had one small table available. Our young waiter... More

..well, the more economical way of eating in Paris is probably to visit a creperie. This one was advised by a friend (otherwise the choice would have been difficult- there are about 8 creperies in the same street here!..). Galette, a variant of a salty crepe with a variety of fillings- mushrooms, cheese, egg ham or vegetables, accompanied by a... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
