A quiet gem

I moved in along the road from Les Ronchons and, in the first two months, I have eaten there three times, twice with my wife. If my wife was not with me in Paris, it would be my ‘kitchen’. We have both enjoyed everything we ordered. There is a short menu – four items and another three or so on... read more

Besides the great food served here, owner Jean-Jacques is a consummate host - offering detailed stories about many of the dishes, sources of ingredients used, and their preparation. The portions are generous and everything was tastful and fresh. Herbs are used for delicate hints, and not overbearing. Baguette arrives several times a day, so it's extremely fresh. The house wine... More

Run by two brothers who are enthusiasts when it comes to traditional French cooking and wines. We dined there June 8th, and was recommended the meal of the day, with the recommended wines. Very tasty, and we were well satisfied when we had finished the main course. I was not certain if I could finish the dessert, but the Creme... More

We had dinner here our first night in Paris. It was very low key - quiet atmosphere, which was odd since it was Fete de la Mistique. Every other restaurant we passed was alive with music, so eating here was a bit of a party pooper (at least on that day). We were the only customers in the restaurant the... More

Small neighborhood place. They start you with a portion of rillettes, tasty and not too greasy. The foie gras d'oie (terrine) is a win. They make it in house, and you can buy it to take out. Perhaps that is the best way to patronize this restaurant. The pressed leeks were cold with a cold roasted egg. Perhaps if it... More

At first we were worried we would not be treated as well as the French clientele in restaurant. There were reasons for my concerns initially not worth mentioning because it turned out to be more of a "loss in translation". The owner recommended fantastic dishes and took great care in choosing wine parings. At one point our party was having... More

A friend recommended Les Ronchons since it was so close to our hotel in Paris and boy do we owe him huge thanks. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our very first dinner in Paris. We arrived just a few minutes before the owner Jean-Jacques did and were immediately impressed by the bags of fresh produce and... More

We found this hidden gem on the Quai de La Tournelle just west of the Pont de La Tournelle using a restaurant finder program called LaFourchette. Reviewers there made what I thought were exaggerated claims as to the quality of the food and the company, but we gave it a go. After the first dinner there, we decided there was... More

We came to Les Ronchons tonight after seeing good reviews on tripadvisor and it has been the best meal we have ever had in Paris. The menu of the day was lamb sweetbreads with black truffle sauce... Exquisite ... the cheese was a super follow on, again with truffle centre!! And the best Rhum Baba ever ... We recommended it... More

Our hotel (Les Dames du Pantheon) recommended this restaurant as ideal for simple but good French cuisine. Not so inviting from the street but a very different story inside. With meagre French language skills, we needed help with the menu but need not have been concerned. The front-of-house was charming & helpful & our food was wonderful. In addition, the... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
