Fantastic food, fantastic people, about as good as it gets!

We found this hidden gem on the Quai de La Tournelle just west of the Pont de La Tournelle using a restaurant finder program called LaFourchette. Reviewers there made what I thought were exaggerated claims as to the quality of the food and the company, but we gave it a go. After the first dinner... read more

We came to Les Ronchons tonight after seeing good reviews on tripadvisor and it has been the best meal we have ever had in Paris. The menu of the day was lamb sweetbreads with black truffle sauce... Exquisite ... the cheese was a super follow on, again with truffle centre!! And the best Rhum Baba ever ... We recommended it... More

Our hotel (Les Dames du Pantheon) recommended this restaurant as ideal for simple but good French cuisine. Not so inviting from the street but a very different story inside. With meagre French language skills, we needed help with the menu but need not have been concerned. The front-of-house was charming & helpful & our food was wonderful. In addition, the... More

One of those little places only the locals know about, few tourists in sight. Memorable lunch today, chatting with owner Dominique Besnard. Excellent entrée (cold cucumber soup on a hot day!), even better main course: great fish and provencal vegetables. But the winner was an absolutely original dish: farm-bread chicken, delicately prepared and with a lovely juicy texture, served in... More

Two adults and a child: fish of the day (me), beef and duck respectively. I tasted all three dishes and they were very well prepared. The fish was accompanied by an exciting sauce which made my meal fantastic. Serving came surprisingly fast and we got all the attention we needed from the nice waiter. Definitely a place I would go... More

Fine Dinning and Five Star Service. We chose this restaurant from Perth, and my wife and I loved the whole experience. Superb French food and service I have yet to find anywhere in my travels. My wife ordered desert and she received the BIGGEST Macaron we had ever seen in our life. I'm not joking when I say the Macaroon... More

A stone's throw from Notre-Dame and thus in an area full of restaurants catering mainly to the tourist trade, this little place is to be commended for its concentration on typical French bistro cooking. The decor is under-stated and there are not many tables but they are not crammed in together. Four choices per course plus the dishes of the... More

My dining experience at Les Ronchons was delightful! I ordered fish - sea bream - which was served over a mellow ratatouille. It was prepared perfectly and their crème brulee was one of the best I have ever tasted. Service was friendly and attentive. This restaurant serves high quality food at a fair price. Worth a visit.

We first visited this restaurant a year ago and had to return on our latest trip to Paris. Jean-Jacques was such a charming host for our first visit we checked the restaurant website before traveling to ensure he was also available for the 23rd August. In addition to his highly amusing manner, he is also extremely knowledgeable about both food... More

This delightful restaurant was perhaps the most charming we've been to in Paris, in no small part due to its amiable host who makes guests feel as though they are old friends. This is not a tourist haunt, which adds to its appeal. The wine list is excellent and our host guided us expertly and considerately suggested moderately priced choices.... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
