We Really Like it

Second time at this fine Italian off St Germain. Great atmosphere and fine food. We had fish and a pasta dish both of which were superb. The wine was fine and the deserts were tasty. The price was ok for Paris. Service was great and English was spoken. Sort of.

In Paris? Only want French food? I invite you to think Italian, in particular Marco Polo Italian. Located close to Bd Saint Germain, in the 6th district, this restaurant is exceptional. I go there just to have what seems like the simplest, most ordinary dish - spaghetti al pomodora et basilico. Ostensibly just pasta with a tomato sauce, this is... More

Close to where we were staying. Came back after half an hour, as a reservation. Were put out on the pavement and were somewhat ignored. Food was good, but not outstanding. Not recommended compared to other restaurants in this area, unless you are really hankering for Italian.

We happened to stumble in on a weeknight. They accommodated us even though we did not have a reservation. The water was so kind to help us through the menu since we do not speak French. They had many specials to choose from as well as great menu selection. My husband kept commenting on all the flavors he could taste... More

If you are not a regular don't expect too warm of a welcome but the food was very good and the location is well situated. My wife started with the Insalata rucola e grana (Salade de roquette et fromage grana) and I started with the Mozzarella di Bufala e pomodori with Mozzarella de Bufflonne et tomates then my wife had... We've been at Marco Polo on Januaray 2015. We were looking for italian resteraunts around our hotel and saw the Marco Polo , which was full almost the entire evening until late hours. This is really like an italian resteraunt in Italy, the staff are really kind and nice! (Unlike some other french people...) The dishes are very good and... More

had the 37 euro menu and enjoyed excellent service, a delicious rocket salad with large slabs of more than shaved parmesan, and fresh pasta with fresh cepes (mushrooms)….also a memorable dessert: special small cherries over vanilla ice cream….I give this dish the highest rating; the bread, was next on the list of what was great…excellent….the place was full by the... Welcome to Paris. The welcome is for any restaurant operator willing to open in Paris. Here you don't need quality: just open in a nice location, with nice interior design and your place will be full. Do you need an example? Marco Polo. The place is really nice. Nothing of luxurious but warm and lively, with wood and red decoration... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
