Nice name for a non-Italian restaurant - tasteless food - low quality

Welcome to Paris. The welcome is for any restaurant operator willing to open in Paris. Here you don't need quality: just open in a nice location, with nice interior design and your place will be full. Do you need an example? Marco Polo. The place is really nice. Nothing of luxurious but warm... read more

One of our best meals in Paris, easily. Service started great, ended so-so but it really wasn't a big deal and didn't dampen the overall experience of our meal. Delicious food. The only other downside was being seated outside (no reservation) which meant being subjected to the smoking section.

Had a lunch at Marco Polo, the pasta was good, but the place is overpriced in general. It was very busy though.

Let me state this right : the food is really good in this place. The service however is very strange : less than one minute after receiving our aperitif, we already get our food. Totally unacceptable of course for any restaurant. By the way, portions are not so big, so normally you will need a starter and a main course... More

I wish I had gotten to eat at Marco Polo - I took 2 metro trains to get there. But when I arrived and asked for a table for 2 for lunch (in French), I was politely turned away by a gentleman who explained (in French) that they were full. We were shocked since we could see plenty of empty... More

Looked up Italian restuarants on TA and chose this one going on other reviews. Not a bad walk if staying near the river and it is great to soak up the nights atmosphere on the way there and on the way home. Not to walk off the delicious meal. We all had a 3 course meal can recommend the 3... More

We had a very good meal at Marco Polo. We had been talked out of going by a Paris restaurant "expert" we had met at another dinner, but we stumbled upon it on our last day of exploring and decided to make a reservation for our last night in Paris. We were not disappointed. It certainly wasn't the best meal... More

This adorable restaurant was across from our hotel and was bustling every day. We didn't make reservations for dinner and after our dinner plans fell through we went there at 9:00 for a table. We were seated without problem, (speaking a little French helped) and we were given a nice table in the back. The waiter was pleasant and the... More

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
