We loved the look of the restaurant and as it was so close to our hotel, we decidsed to give it a go. This isn't on the tourist trail so the chalk board menu was all in French and we used all our limited French to order but we managed. The food was freshly cooked and interesting and I particularly... We found this restaurant in the ViaMichelin. That kinds of set the expectaions. In our case our expectations where to high unfortunately. The service was good after a few insidents. The menu...... we got the feeling that the where serving premade food that had been made from frozen product......didnt expect that.

We were looking for a restaurante for our first night is Paris near the Hotel since it was a exhausting day. The Le Petel looked fine from the outside and with decide to try. The restaurante is too small, wich may not be bad. The food was definitely not good, all dishes seem to have the sausage and were not... More

If you don't want to eat American French Foods in the Tourist area, this is one. A small restaurant with warm and cozy atmosphere. The menu doesn't have English, but they have a special hand writting English menu. The waitress and owner spoke broken English but always had a lovely smile. I think I am going to the right place... A full house in the evening. Small restaurant so set your expectation on service. French only menu (chalk board). Veal is excellent. All food are great as the reviewers mentioned (besides veal, we had duck and lamb) but you may find memorable ones in other areas.

...my steak. I wanted to give this quaint, cozy restaurant five out of five but just couldn't do it because my steak (main course) looked like some kind of mystery meat and was overcooked and difficult to cut and chew, although the flavor was very good. Everything else was fantastic, both of our appetizers, and my daughters main course, and... More

We visited Le Petel on the strength of other Trip Adviser reviews as my partner had given me a 'dinner for two in Paris' voucher for Christmas, and we were looking for somewhere special and genuinely French in order to make the most of the occasion. Le Petel looks unassuming from the outside, and has more the appearance of a... More

Le Petel is off the tourist circuit so you might even hear your fellow diners speaking French (less common in Paris than you would think!). The waiters do speak some English, so that's helpful if your menu French isn't perfect (several years ago, I thought I was getting a veal scallope in Paris and wound up with a veal liver).... More

Beautiful authentic restaurant. A little expensive but worth it for a non-tourist experience! The food was beautiful (although my husband's cote du boef was a little too gristly) and all beautifully cooked. The pistachio fondant dessert was just heavenly but be warned if you are having the Rhum Baba - it's literally soaked with rum and takes your breath away!... More
