This place is brimming with charm and character: the walls are covered in memorabilia and ephemera of France and French events spanning several decades, and the whole place brings an almost quintessential, charming French restaurant to mind. We both had the fixed menu, and while our starters of cold meats were fairly run of the mill, the main courses were... More

From the very beginning we were made welcome and comfortable. The 10+ table rustic atmosphere was perfect for both locals and the few tourists who found our there way here. We had an assortment of dishes that were all very good - the portion sizes were large ... but the bill was not. VERY traditional - so if this is... More

Like other reviewers have commented, dining at Le Petit Baigneur felt like what it must have been like in a Paris restaurant 50 years ago. The food was good but not great (my entrecote was fatty), with the exception of the citron and cassis sorbet which was superb. The portions are large enough that I ran out of appetite with... More

We visited this restaurant because it was near our hotel. Even if it's nowhere near your hotel, it's worth the time to visit. The food is divine, atmosphere great, wine superb and service amazing with generous servings on all there courses. We arrived when it opened at 7 pm without a booking it soon became busy so if y plan... More

Small out of the way restaurant harking back to the days of traditional family-run eateries. The menu was mostly french dishes (lots of rabbit), the food was not particularly high quality or well cooked, but portions were generous. Good atmosphere and helpful friendly staff. Inexpensive, so if you are on a budget but want the experience of an authentic french... More

On a recent short break to Paris, we chose Le Petit Baigneur for our first evening meal as it wasn't too far from the hotel and had good reviews on TA. We enjoyed it so much we came again on the second evening and were not disappointed. Lovely food, excellent service and the ambience is so friendly and relaxing. Excellent... More

It looks nice, just a bit small. There are many people so sometimes you may have to wait. Food is very nice. Service is a little slow because it seems that they only have one cook, two waiters. Looks more like a family-owned restaurant.

Tucked away just off the rue de Maine near Alesia, this family-run bistro fills up quickly at lunchtime. Hardly surprising: the menu proposed is very good value and; if you need more than the included glass, the wines suggested are reasonably priced. All the dishes are home-made and the speciality of the house, Daube à la provencale, is a must,... More

Le Petit Baigneur is our favorite Parisian restaurant. If you're looking for haute cuisine or nouvelle cuisine, this is not the restaurant for you. Authentic traditional French food, served in a warm an cosy atmosphere and at reasonable prices are it's hallmark, and it's well deserved. Every meal we've had there has been excellent or better. Crowded every evening, it's... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
