It looks nice, just a bit small. There are many people so sometimes you may have to wait. Food is very nice. Service is a little slow because it seems that they only have one cook, two waiters. Looks more like a family-owned restaurant.

Tucked away just off the rue de Maine near Alesia, this family-run bistro fills up quickly at lunchtime. Hardly surprising: the menu proposed is very good value and; if you need more than the included glass, the wines suggested are reasonably priced. All the dishes are home-made and the speciality of the house, Daube à la provencale, is a must,... More

Le Petit Baigneur is our favorite Parisian restaurant. If you're looking for haute cuisine or nouvelle cuisine, this is not the restaurant for you. Authentic traditional French food, served in a warm an cosy atmosphere and at reasonable prices are it's hallmark, and it's well deserved. Every meal we've had there has been excellent or better. Crowded every evening, it's... More

This is my favourite restaurant in Paris! I used to live nearby and I went many times. All my friends had the same opinion. The owner is very polite and the service is excellent. What I also find magnificent is the decoration and the total ambiance. Even though i don't live there any more i try to visit when I... More

Given the many positive reviews, our main contribution is perhaps to say that Le Petit Baigneur is still excellent. Most of our favorite Paris restaurants are tiny and crowded. Le Petit Baigneur has a dozen or more tables and ample space. The decor is collectibles - mostly vintage metal signs - hanging on the walls. We have been very pleased... More

A traditional French restaurant around 15 minutes walk from Montparnasse, with good food and a lot of character, at a very reasonable price. We were recommended this restaurant by a colleague, were very pleased to have visited and will visit again. The restaurant is split into two halves, with 6-8 tables in each half depending on how they are put... More

We chose here after reading reviews on TA and made a reservation for early evening. It did get busy later on and is clearly patronised by lots of locals - always a good sign. The food was absolutely delicious and extremely good value. We were trying to stick to a reasonable budget and the 3 course / 25€ menu offered... More

We found this restaurant recommended in a French guide to Paris - always a good sign! - and found that it was a short walk from where we were staying in Montparnasse. I don't need to add much to previous reviews; the people are friendly and helpful, the food excellent (I believe the proprietor was once a butcher!), and there... More

Our B&B host recommended this restaurant and we are happy that we went here! Very friendly service, English not a problem, and great food! Authentic impression, this is a place where local people go to have dinner. Highly recommended!

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
