Quaint little bistro

We were walking down the street looking for a place to eat after our wine and cheese session at O'Chateau and we stumbled upon Le Gros Minet where we were greeted by two lovely ladies. Because we were rather full, we asked to share our dishes and they were fine with that. The kitchen even cut/split... read more

Authentic Places like this are becoming more and more rare in Paris and should be savoured at every opportunity, lest you return to Paris one day and it's closed due to all the chains taking over everywhere. Run do not walk there and soak up the ambiance of a Paris that our children may never know. Everything is delicious.

My family had an excellent meal at Le Gros Minet during our Paris trip. The owners/operators were warm and friendly, and made us feel at home. I had the onion soup, duck confit, and then the warm chocolate cake. We also had the pate (very good!) and the creme brulee. Would recommend to anyone!

We happened upon this place when Denice's 2 doors away was full. We weren't disappointed. Lovely flavourful comfortable home cooking in a charecterful setting. Fish terrain and onion soup both superb. Mains of veal kidneys in creme mustard sauce and cod in orange creme sauce were lovely. We shared a generous portions of tart tatin for dessert which was to... More

The food is beautiful and well cooked, the staff are very friendly and it is very well priced, I was expecting to pay much much more than I did!

I see the excellent and very good ratings here and I am perplexed. We were sent by a neighboring restaurant which was full, so we decided to eat at Le Gros Minet. What a mistake that was for us! Not only was it the worst meal we had during 9 days in Paris, it was the worst meal my partner... More

We ate out 3 times in Paris and tried to vary it up between types of restaurants; a run of the mill, a bistro and a famous one. This bistro came out on top by a fair old bit. The lady who owns this knew limited English and her helper who knew English hadn't arrived when we turned up early... More

The decor was charming, if slightly eccentric and the staff equally charming. The food was slightly mixed with the cod and the sea bass served with the same gloopy pepper sauce and definitely mediocre. The house wine and chocolate mousse, however, were delicious.

Authentic small Parisian Bistro with its very own personal atmosphere. One of my favorite Restaurants in Paris - very traditional French cuisine with a large choice of typical meat and fish main courses, various starters and desserts. My all time favorites are: hareng et ces pommes tièdes – the herring with warm potatoes ( starter) confit de canard - the... More

2 stones in salad. Can happen... Almost broke my teeth. The Resturant still charge us for the salad. The Resturant gave us shenaps drinks at the end of the meal. The place does not look clean. Food was ok. We do not recommend. There are many other better places in Paris. I have nothing else to add. Paris is great.... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
