Fancy something different? For a change of ambiance and to plunge into the atmosphere of a "bodega" from Madrid, head on over to the "Caves Saint-Gilles", an authentic Spanish bistro located in the Marais district of Paris, near the famous Place des Vosges and Picasso Museum. With its traditional tiled walls and colourful Spanish posters, the Caves Saint-Giles has a large bar where in true Spanish bistro style you can enjoy the "Sangria de la casa" or sample some of the many Spanish wines on offer whilst waiting for your table or simply enjoy an aperitif. Come and savour the typical hot and cold tapas, fresh fried calamari, meat and fishes, calamari, cuttlefish, gambas grilled a la plancha, Pata Negra Salamanca ham and chorizo, Paella served on saturdays, sundays and holidays, spanish cheeses, postres, ice-creams and nougats.

Wonderful Spanish fare near Place de Vosges

We enjoyed a terrific late lunch here, after a long sightseeing walk from L'Etoile to the Marais. We arrived ready to relax and enjoy good food at a leisurely pace, and we were able to do just that. Service was friendly and efficient. Two of us shared delectable paella (available Saturdays, Sundays... read more

We were walking around the Marais hungry at lunchtime and chose this place because there were several old French men having lunch. Wow. The mixed seafood a la plancha was a total treat, as was the cold tapas platter and pitcher of sangria. Not cheap (it's in the Marais, after all), but everything was fresh, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.... More

Small very busy tapas restaurant near to Place des Vosges. Staff are friendly and there's a lively atmosphere. Despite how busy it has been every time I've visited, I have never felt rushed by the staff. Food is very tasty and the Spanish omelette is potentially the best I've ever tasted! We ordered a selection of small tapas dishes to... More

This little neighbourhood restaurant in the 3rd Arrondissment has fabulous food at great prices. It's retro decor gives this little place so much character.

We ate here on a recommendation from some friends and had a great evening. The restaurant has a very family/local community feel to it and is very comfortable and relaxed as a result. We sat outside and it was a very enjoyable evening. We ordered two of the seafood tapas plates and everything was well cooked, with plenty of choices... More

I'd dismiss the reports of bad service. We had a lovely meal of tapas at this busy, local restaurant on the edge of the Marais. Our food was delivered promptly and faster than we would have liked, but absolutely delicious. The mussels and other seafood was great especially the cod croquettes. We'd just been to Madrid so we had some... More

Service was almost non existent. I sat at the bar as I was dining solo, and the bartender consistently would clear my empty glass and walk away without asking if I wanted another. I would then have to struggle to get his attention. It was the only unfriendly experience during my entire stay in Paris.

This is was my second time to go to this restaurant, I guess the first time wasn't punishment enough. It's a very strange eating experience. We were 9-people, the restaurant was practically empty, so where do they seat us, right in front of the noisy kitchen, I suppose to make it easy for the servers, so they don't have to... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
