Mid range prices - fine dining experience

We were relieved we had booked, it is small and full to the gills so we would not have got in otherwise. This is one of the best restaurants I have been to. The whole meal was fantastic, as well as the starters and our game main courses (I had grouse and my partner had venison) which were all... read more

"A la Biche au Bois" is located walking distance from Gare de Lyon. This restaurant is always full...One needs to reserve ahead. We come to Paris every year, and "La Biche" is a yearly stop. We go for the 7:00 p.m. seating, and always come out so extremely satisfied (more like bursting at the seams!). The daily 4 course meal... More

Whenever my wife and I visit Paris, we always have at least one dinner at this restaurant. We have never been disappointed. Never! The food is impeccable. The service is beyond expectation. It is a family atmosphere that serves Michelin style traditional French cuisine. None of the proverbial cliches about French "hautiness" apply here. A must!

I still can't make a Coq Au Van like they put out. Everything that the rest of my group has was excellent. Went there three times in ten days.

Excellent four course dinner at a set price. So glad they managed to squeeze us in - make a reservation! Top service from very hospitable staff. Most excellent cheeseboard, after some particularly fine veal. Thankfully a short walk from our hotel - we were stuffed.

First the warm welcoming by the manager donning a big white apron makes you feel like you are a guest of honor at his table. The staff explains every dish, game or regular meat , in English if you don't speak French. The choice is great and the 4-course menu ( entree, plat, fromage, dessert) is a real value for... More

My wife and I have visited Paris twice a year for the last fifteen years or so, and we’ve eaten in some of the finest (and priciest!) restaurants – Alain Ducasse, Taillevent etc. Nowadays, we (and our pockets!) prefer to search for excellent food at more humane prices. We certainly found this happy combination at A La Biche Au Bois... More

We booked a table for Friday night and turned up 15 minute before to a rather disorganised queue outside the restaurant. We were patient and glad we were as we were treated to a fantastic meal in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. At circa 35 euros for 4 courses this was great value. The game casseroles are their speciality and were... More

Classic bistro that welcomed a group of 10 Americans without reservation and without hesitation. Owner took the time to explain the menu and the wild game selections to all in English. Great staff, very helpful all night. Food was well prepared and presented. Game dishes were excellent and positive comments by all there. Great place for fall dining as not... More

Like others, we traveled across the city to dine here. The food was disappointing, the supposed house specialty of coq au vin was stunningly mediocre and the entrecote in pepper sauce was equally average. Dining out should exceed what one prepare at home, and this failed. That said, the owner was an effusive personality, the setting was a pleasant bistro,... More
