Good but expensive

Where do I even begin? I've been to some bad places before, but this just takes the cake. Gougeres (little cheese puffs) that I recommend they buy from Picard in the future, then a really nice gazpacho type thing, followed by a salicorne risotto. At this point I should have left the restaurant. This dish showed a complete complacency on... More

What a let down. I worked very hard to reserve this restaurant based on reviews and the national press proclaiming this place as cutting edge and creative. Maybe the staff have been reading their press and forgetting about the food and service. The evening did not start well - there was confusion about our table and they had us move... More

With me and my partner both being in hospitality for the last 7/8 years and making it our careers, we have always with some suspicion, as we are only too aware that the expectations of people can sometimes get the better of them. Never before have we felt the need to write a review about a venue unfortunately until now,... More

I had gotten a little spooked reading some of the negative reviews. This will not be everyone's favorite bistro steak-and-frites-French-meal. But it IS inventive without being odd, (although I did pass on the raw egg, I admit) with unexpected yet thrilling flavors in every course. We had superb, energetic service and enjoyed the pacing of the meal. I don't get... More

went with high hopes but was underwhelmed. The restaurant was highly recommended by thinking the kitchen may be listening to the hype and lost their edge. Had much better food at many other places, not worth the cost.

This small bistro serves a set menu of some very interesting courses. Each course was an explosion of flavors that coupled with the wine pairings made for a great experience, for exampleThe acidity of the ceviche was perfectly complimented by a sweet wine! Many of the dishes were very unusual, for example there was a dish of fried shrimp with... More

a cheerful and welcoming staff greeted us when we arrived. We chose the menu paired with wine. Each plate was perfection and the wine selections brought an even greater, playful dimension. A smile and a story accompanied each course. A love story from beginning to end. This is a restaurant with a big heart.

(Our Dinner at Le Chateaubriand, Paris - March 31, 2015) I should have known. We should have spun around on our feet, climbed back into the cab and taken our chances for an unreserved table anywhere else in Paris. ANYWHERE. What welcomed us from across the street were grungy letters painted across a saggy awning. I could feel disappointment begin... More
