Fondue or fondue?

Nice small restaurant with stantard menu. Fondue (cheese or meat), drink (in special glass) and something sweet for dessert. We ate the meat fondue and it was something that i never tasted before but i am suggesting it!!! Not ideal for children.

At the Refuge you will be greeted and treated as if the staff were making you a favour; it's packed with tourists so I reckon this is a one-time experience and people never go back. If you make a reservation, don't expect it to be ready on time; ours (for 7 people) was probably forgotten and we were lucky a... More

We were in Paris for two weeks and this was by far the worst meal we ate. Apart from the grumpy staff and awful, poor quality food, the waiter threw our half eaten bread basket back into the basket they were serving to other customers - we had half eaten bits in there too, disgusting. The wine tasted cheap as... More

17 Rue Tres Freres - Refuge du Fondues that is where! Two simple answers to two simple questions - "cheese or meat?" and "red or white? and the party commences. The first course is a bite sized meat and cheese serving with an apperitif; main course is cheese with crusty bread and/or meat and potatoes cooked in oil and served... More

We went to this restaurant based on a strong recommendation of a friend. This friend also advised us to make a reservation in advance because there is always a queue of people waiting to get in and the resto is very small. Our first impression was not very good because despite our phone reservation, nobody from the restaurant cared about... More

I came here with some friends on a recommendation from my brother, who had come here with his college's Eurotour several years ago. We had no clue what to expect, and we had a wonderful time. The value for the price is outstanding. For $21 euros per person, you get an apertif, a little meat and cheese platter, a choice... More

If you are in Paris and want a fun night of eating and sipping (literally) wine, then this is the place. You will be jammed in with strangers, people will climb on tables, and it will be noisy. But you will leave with a huge smile on your face and a memory that will last a lifetime. A must visit... More

Refuge des Fondues is a small restaurant in Montmartre that definitely caters to tourists. I took some visitors there a few weeks ago because they were eager to go to the "baby bottle place". The food itself is not very good--stale bread, clumpy cheese, meat, and a variety of sauces. The fun part is the wine in the baby bottles.... More

Prepare to be seated next to a complete stranger. All the tables are lined up side by side along the two walls of the restaurant. So in order to sit at the wall side of the table one person has to climb over it. The fixed menu starts you out with a kir and a little meat and cheese platter.... More

What fun! As everyone has said it's small, tight up to strangers and hot but who cares it's a great experience. Note that the cheese fondue is only for two; you can't get it for one. It comes with only bread. Go with a big appetite and order both the meat and cheese for two of you and pay the... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
