Awesome authentic French experience

So here's the deal. Some foodies look at Michelin ratings and assume those are the best restaurants to dine at. While I like to lean on Michelin ratings, I find that those restaurants often fall into the prix fixe category and not the appetizer, entree, dessert type category. We decided to try... read more

We went to Paul Chene based on the excellent reviews on Tripadviser and partly due to the proximity to our hotel, the Radisson Blu Le Dokhans (very close). To say it lived up to our expectations would be a gross understatement. The food was absolutely superb and the restaurant itself is an absolute gem. The maitre d' / owner (Harold... More

We had dinner at Paul Chene on a quiet day in July during a holiday period. The staff took exceptionally good care of us. The manager/owner even spent 15 minute with our two teenage children explaining the art of examining and tasting wine. The food, which is classic French, is executed perfectly. Despite being Americans with only a very limited... More

We have just enjoyed our first visit to Paul Chene on the recommendation of our hotel. We were entertained by Harold throughout the night with his skills and very friendly nature. Highly recommend this longstanding French restaurant. We will return again on our next visit.

FANTASTIC meal! Harold is an attentive host/waiter/sommelier, as usual. He always makes me feel welcome and appreciated. Brought some colleagues for their first visit...Harold explained the menu, made thoughtful recommendations, and made sure everyone was pleased with their selections. Amusee buche was complex mix of crab, topped with delicate vegetable mousse. Tampenade with toasted baguette Starters: Langoustines in season, and... More

We went for the first time in January 2013 having found the restaurant on trip advisor. We are happy to say that the reviews did the evening justice; the food was exemplary and the service was memorably excellent. From entry to exit you feel welcomed into this small, family run restaurant which has a very french atmosphere. We enjoyed the... More

Our last night in Paris was celebrated with a sensational meal at Paul Chene. This restaurant is tucked away from the main streets so you don't get the noise of the Paris crowds, it allows for an intimate experience. First off, owner Harold greeted us with restrained enthusiasm as this is a quaint and elegant restaurant. I made an error... More

Well where to start. This was the closest Resturant to our hotel and what a fantastic surprise. The foie gras was the best I have ever had. Pan fried of course. Main course should have gone for the beef but the Goose was good. Confit the best option. Service spectacular so I can only fully recommend.

Staying in Trocadero

Neighborhood Profile
Trocadero
This is the neighborhood of grand and impressive Haussmann-designed apartments and buildings. National museums overlook the Eiffel Tower and embassies fill the avenues and streets. Locals head to the butcher, florist, or bakery on their daily rounds amidst luxury and splendor, all with a view over Paris and its most famous tower. Snuggled in between the grand buildings are small art galleries and homes of historical significance. With a rich legacy from 19th century politics, art, and architecture, you can’t help but be reminded of the belle époque, the Universal Exhibitions and the nobility that have frequented and shaped these streets.
