Walking about La Butte-aux-Cailles (which is named after a man and not a bird) made us hungry and my wife says, let's have Italian and eat here. I agreed, recalling that "Pudlo" favorably reviewed the restaurant. Walking in, we heard only Italian and French ... and were warmly greeted by (as it turned out), the owner and perhaps her daughter.... More

Its so easy to find. At the top of the very pretty Butte aux Cailles, it hosts a place popular for obvious neighbourhood regulars. Its elegant taupe facade and large windows invited us to enter the chic decorations, not dissimilar from New York-style, subdued lighting and an old, untreated parquet floor. We had aubergine millefiuille , tagliata of beef with... More

This was probably the worst dining experience I have had for years. The owner of this restaurant should be ashamed of his surly staff, poor service and over priced food and wine. The kitchen staff are obviously under pressure to churn our poor quality food at high speed. After a poor starter the main course arrived almost immediately with the... More

This restaurant has great service and their pasta tastes awesome. Small restaurant and it appears they make stuff from scratch. The only bad thing is they don't take Amex.

I've been to this restaurant several times for Sunday lunch and always loved the food and appreciated the Italian staff. I went there for lunch this week during the week and had the lunch menu which is great value. You can have a starter and a main course for 14 euros or a three course menu with a glass of... More

In the lesser known Buttes de Cailles area you will find this small Italian restaurant. They serve a "plat du jour" at lunch time but if you have time and money we recommend to eat a la carte. Most of the food and the wine are ecological. Very friendly and competent staff (all Italians from Naples to Sicily). After dinner... More

Great food and neat atmosphere, you shouldn't miss this place if you are in the area. Every single dish my group had was fantastic, and nothing was amiss. The wine list is great too (obviously, it's Paris) and it's a great spot for people watching, without being touristy. I will say that it is a bit pricey for a traveler... More

Every time I come to Paris, I come to this restaurant that I particularly like ! I have the chance of living nearby when I come to Paris, but even if you are not really close to the 13 arrondissement, you must come here. In summer, for dinner, it is really nice to make a reservation , come early, and... More

Great Italian food, it is very popular, so you might want to book a table. The ravioli was very, very nice. It was, maybe a little bit expensive, but it was great food and a nice atmosphere.

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighborhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
