If you like food, look no further. Le Timbre provides a totally awesome 3, 4 or 5 course eating experience served by an friendly, informative, good energy lady. You can watch the chef as he works his culinary magic in his postage stamp kitchen.

After reading an article in NYT lauding praises on Le Timbre's service and value, had to give it a try. Thinking it was a must-try on a short two day stint in Paris we emailed the restaurant a few weeks in advance for a lunch reservation. This hole in the wall gem did not disappoint. Lunch was three courses and... More

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with incredible food. Be prepared that this restaurant is tiny (Le Timbre=postage stamp), literally one chef in kitchen and one waitress. Tables are close together and it is a bit squeezy but it adds to the atmosphere of this wonderful restaurant. It is a fixed menu but every course was simply fantastic. We would definitely come again... More

My foodie son, wife and I dined here on my birthday in May on a trip to Paris from NYC. Our good friend in the art world suggested this tiny, neighborhood spot with only 25 seats and off the beaten path. Dinner menu is made up nightly by the chef, who had taken over here 6 months ago. Many years... More

I have never eaten in such a place: 20 covers, 1 chef, 1 waitress, 1 set menu It is like eating at someone house. The lovely waitress has everything under control and her and the chef run the place in perfect organisation. We had the most delicious food, better than in some top starred London restaurants. Try this, it is... More

We loved this tiny restaurant with an intimate setting and delicious food. A set menu of 3-4 or 5 courses, very refined, meticously prepared and served. The server was attentive and kind; the chef very Professional and on-time. The service worked like a clock. We were a group of 4 with 2 kids; the kids loved the food. A very... More

Everything except the starter was disappointing. The green bean soup with haddocks was great, but the main dish -- rump steak with artichoke and polenta had a problem. First, artichoke was something wrong, it was bitter and bland. I love cooking and eating artichokes but it was not what I expected. Although I tried to find how I could eat... More

We went here during our stay in Paris. Excellent authentic tastes and plates presented beautifully. As with any good restaurant, there was a fixed menu so we could just relax and let ourselves be surprised, enjoying the decoration (nice arty shelf in the shape of an antler) inside this small restaurant. Service was great, both warm and professional. Bottom line:... More

We found this restaurant via TripAdvisor and were very pleased. This is the type of restaurant where one feels the need to use your iPhone to take a photo of each course; beautifully presented and amazing combinations of flavors and textures. The chef seemed happily amused by our photos.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
