A Tiny Treasure

We tried to get into this tiny place a couple of times, but it was always full. I skipped out of class early at the nearby Alliance Francaise just so we could be among the first to be seated. We made a booking online and went there after a walk in the park nearby. Originally, I wish to try some of their famous dishes but they only offer one set menu at lunch time for everyone, but that's fine because the dishes are carefully and nicely designed. I had a cod fish plate with asparagus as starter, the fish... More

We stayed in Rue Saint Beuve and among all the nice restaurants that this street offers we were attracted to this one; probably because of the friendly scene through the window: a tiny informal place, tastefully decorated, with a tempting fixed courses menu, only one person that takes care of all guests (the timbre-sized place can’t hold more), only one... We have enjoyed eating at Le Timbre so much, we go every time we're in Paris. The restaurant is tiny and serves just one menu per night. It feels intimate and wonderfully French. The hostess is friendly and helpful- and able to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions. The food is wonderful-- go to Le Timbre!

Our dinner here was incredible! It was a tiny restaurant but felt very authentic. The pre-set menu meant the meal was incredible and we got to try some things we may not have otherwise ordered. The people were very friendly and the experience incredible. I wouldn't miss this!

Le Timbre. 3 rue Sainte Beuve, Paris (0145491040) Reopened under new management 9th September 2014 they explained when we made a booking for the 3rd October. It was nine-thirty p.m. when four of us arrived to take the last four (reserved) seats - much to the disappointment of the four ladies who had to move out of the doorway to... More

This was our second time at Le Timbre, and it was even better!!! Such a sweet restaurant -just 11 tables and everything about it is charming!!! the staff, the food, the clientele. It is a set menu, and the chef does not disappoint. Also, fabulous wine selection.

Five of us had dinner here as we walked past earlier in the day and liked the look of the menu. We all had different dishes and they were delicious. It ended up being the best dinner we had over our whole weekend. Very reasonable for the quality of the food and the area. So glad paris is once again... More

We loved the previous incarnation of this "postage stamp" sized restaurant - open kitchen, tables squished together, interesting wine list, chalkboard menu changed almost daily, friendly banter with the staff and were rather nervous to learn it had recently changed owners. The new version is nice enough a certainly more of a refined experience (pristine white table linens, printed individual... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
