I was taken aback last week to find that Chris Wright had sold up and left Paris. The new owner is a good chef and again works alone. But he cannot multi-task as Chris did. There was no choice of dishes, just an extra course if you chose a more expensive menu. Agreec the monk fish and the sweetbreads were... More

Cosy small restaurant with excellent and personal service. Very tasty food and just enough sized portions. I will definitely come back. The waitress called me the day after about where to find a delicious Muscat 2001 sweet wine.

We went to Le Timbre via recommendation of good friends. They told us it was small, but it was quite shocking how small it actually is. It is quaint and unsuspecting, yet wound up being our best meal in Paris. The menu is a fixed menu, and you can choose the number of courses. We chose the 6 course option.... More

This small (10 tables) restaurant has character. The decor isn't much but the service is excellent, and the plats (scallops and rabbit for all of us) were tasty, but the monkfish entrée seemed cold. Nonetheless, we'll come back.

Le Timbre is a small place in the 6th arrondissement, not far away from Jardin du Luxembourg, via rue Vavin. Reservations highly recommended as more and more people know about the restaurant and the small space fills up quickly. Very intimate atmosphere, cozy and nice. Everybody sits close together, it is easy to compare notes on how delightful the food... More

Hello Sir, First of all : thank you for your comment. This is a great review. Nevertheless, we ( my wife and I ) bought the restaurant from Christopher Wright during september. It would be interresting to know when you came to the restaurant to attribute the compliment to the right person. My name is Charles Danet and I am... More

21 seats, all taken (compact), I chef, 1 server. 5 potential courses with no choice!! Great food, well delivered, little fuss. I live in Paris and had wanted to try this place for a while. I wasn't disappointed. A starter of mushroom soup with a poached egg, beef as a main and then an almond tart desert. Subtle flavours, well... More

The first thing to know about Le Timbre is that the menu is limited to one dish for each course...no choice except the number of courses to order. That said, the food is carefully and artfully prepared, the service excellent and the price fair for the quality of preparation. On the night of our visit the offered entree course was... More

We booked this restaurant on line. It was recommended by son and his wife who had raved. The reply was prompt to my email to book and the new chef disclosed that it was under new ownership. It is a husband and wife team. As others have mentioned it is very small, but we were aware of that and it... More
