Steak Frites in Paris !

This restaurant serves steak and fries (plus salad and deserts). The only menu questions you'll be asked: How do you want your meat done? What beverage do you want? What do you want for desert? The steak and fries were both tasty and excellent. The beverage ranges and prices were great. The... read more

....and all we got was beef and french fries! Now if beef and fries and a cream brulee was 20euros then I'd be ok...but me and my wife walked away 87 euros worse off for a meal which I could have got from a street corner. Service was fast and well done...but I could not stomach the final bill as... More

I visited Paris back in November, and have recently been reminded that I needed to come back and write about this wonderful place. I am a huge steak lover, and always eat my meat dry, but the sauce they offer here is absolutely divine, and I only wish I had the recipe!! The restaurant is lovely, a great atmosphere and... More

Superb location, superb value menu du jour especially due to the location! We sat upstairs, book a window table and watch Paris buzzing by - just perfect! Steak, chips and sauce to die for and cooked to perfection! Great quality house wine was the icing on the cake!

We stopped in, without reservations. Being two of us, we were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was the best - fun, nice, spoke great english, and recommended some great wine & desserts. The meal was perfect, just Steak & Fries. Couldn't beat it. For dessert, we ordered what our waitress suggested - it was an ice cream & meringue cookie... More

I must tell you that this was the highlight of my short stay in Paris. I heard about this place, and had it on my dinner list. I was seated in a crowded area, but soon got into a great conversation with the two American students next to me. I ordered, as if I knew the menu, a glass of... More

After a tiring day visiting the sights and walking, we were after something not too taxing. This was ideal - nice steak, great frites and yummy sauce accompanied by simple salad and bread. The waitress was friendly and courteous to our young daughter. Towards the end of the meal your waitress appears with free top ups of everything. Great concept;... More

I have been coming here since 1989 and it has consistently been my favorite place in Paris. Food, wine, simplicity of menu, and ambience are all great. The occasionally snooty servers go with the "Paris" part of this great Paris restaurant, and the no- reservations-so-wait-in-line thing is a little tiresome. ....but these are mere bumps in the road en route... Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
