Nice décor, mild food, low prices

The food offered in this restaurant may not satisfy Indian food purists, but was excellent for our taste, as we don't seek extremely spicy and hot dishes. Guests are welcomed in the New Balal with a Blue Curaçao cocktail and some spicy appetizers. The menu offers a large variety of Indian and... read more

Very traditional in decor, nothing glitsy nothing fancy, perfectly acceptable. Staff were very helpful, food is spot on. finished it all, very centrally located without extortionate prices. For non complicated simple Indian subcontinental food that isn't stupidly priced, visit New Balal.

My husband and I have always said the best Indian restaurant outside of India was in London but this one was just as good if not better! There are 3 locations in Paris and we had our wonderful dinner at Rue Taitbout which is right around the corner from the Le Banke Hotel. Service was great, the nan fresh, chutney... More

I love Indian food and we have had some nice experiences in other restaurants in Paris, so we decided to take my mother in law to this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was tasteless, the service was not the best and it was kind of expensive. I would advise you to try other Indian restaurants in Paris!

While i walk from office to hotel, couple of indian restaurents are in proximity. I tried this one for over 2 times and quiet disappointed. Chcken punjabi is horrible with big pieces which seems enot fresh and not enough ingredients to make it tasty and also pulau rice is like a plain rice .. Overall i was disappointed with quality... Ambience -- average.. nothing to complain about.. nothing to be excited about... We had the Paneer Makhanwala -- it didn't really have the paneer, but had a different kind of cheese -- whatever it was, it got me asking for more. Breads are good and so it the service. They will try and customize to your tolerance level of spice..

I went to this restaurant with a friend during a week long trip to Paris. We went on the strength of the reviews here. But, I'm afraid to say, it didn't impress at all. The staff seemed friendly enough and gave us a complimentary drink and some poppadoms at the beginning. We ordered the Pakora and the Onion Bhajia to... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
