The restaurant's refined decor is a faithful illustration of the Art Nouveau style, with its original mosaics and its crystal Saint-Louis chandeliers a truly Parisian institution located on the Place des Ternes. The head chef prepares a refined, traditional French cuisine using the freshest ingredients. An immensely popular restaurant with both Parisians and discerning tourists, who appreciate beautifully prepared food. Beuatiful Belle Epoque setting over two floors. Open 24/7. Very attentive service. It's a very simple card, not exactly cheap, but the seafood is great quality and the setting is a must. The convenience of being right there at Opera is also great. Book and get a table upstairs.

We visited Le Grand Cafe Capucines for dinner with friends, a total of 7 people. From the moment we sat down service was slow, even allowing for a more leisurely standard of service. We found prices to be high--36 euros for a small steak. With 2 exceptions wine was only available by the glass. The 2 bottled wines were 29... More

The food was very good. I had the pre fix 3 course menu and it was very satisfying. Just be advised that there is a 15% service charge already included in the price of the food, so if the service was more attentive than usual leaving additional tip is at your discretion. About 2 to 5 Euros per person in... More

We happened upon this amazing place after a tiring morning shopping at les Galleries Lafayette nearby. Our table for two was perfectly placed for people watching outside as well as admiring the wonderful art nouveau decor inside. The food and service were both great and we lingered with no pressure at all to pay the bill.

A dozen of oysters accompanied by good chablis - was very good. Escargots were a bit salty. Overall, a good place to have a lunch in a great location - Opera is just around the corner.

It was a good deal past lunchtime but too early for dinner but we had just we arrived. However, we did need something to eat and we wanted something typically French. Working in Paris for the last 12 years I should know better! My colleague and I were in a hurry so we were not planning a long dinner. Exiting Opera station we went to the first Restaurant we saw, and one I have curiously walked past many times. So why not give it a go. Both interior and staff appear... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
