Great meal

My wife and I ate here on our first night in Paris. We had heard quite a bit about it and thought it was worth trying. I'm glad we did. It is not a large place so it can seem crowded. The service was very good even though the restaurant had a line of customers waiting to eat.. We did... read more

How many ways can I express how great our meal was here? Amazing. Superb. Fantastic. Delicious. The list goes on. We ate here two nights in a row as we were fortunate to secure reservations as guests of the hotel (Relais Saint Germain). We ate three courses each night and tried different things. We had high expectations and were greatly... More

The food at Le Comptoir Du Relais has been the best we have had in Paris so far. We were lucky to arrive at 7.30pm and be seated straight away. The menu is in French so we asked the waiter who was what were his suggestions for entrées. We decided on the pate, a tuna sashimi dish, squid ink risotto... More

We were lucky to get in before a long line formed waiting for a table. Honestly we didn't know what to expect but such a pleasant suprise. Don't let the tight quarters and busy atmosphere turn you off. That's sidewalk dining in Paris. In a nutshell..food was well prepared and full of flavor. We are going back to tomarrow. Interesting... We have been in Paris for ten days enjoying the people and the food. Today we had lunch at Le Comptoir. It was by far the best meal we have had in Paris! The pork and lentils were amazing as was the Ahi tuna. We enjoyed two entrees, three glasses of wine and two deserts for 90 euro. The service... More

We discovered this place thanks to CNN's Anthony Bourdain. Good location and setting. On the weekends, depending on when you arrive you could be waiting in line for 30-60 minutes. Apparently they take reservations during the week but these are tough to come by. Our family of 4 had a charcuterie plate, steak tartare, salad, pate and a fish special.... More

Food was decent, but not significantly better than other places. Insouciant service spoiled the experience - surprising considering the excellent service at their hotel (see Le Comptoir Relaisreview). Apparently Chef Camdeborde was on his vacance, so I am not ready to write this restaurant off.

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
