Great food in a cramped space

We ate a late dinner here and didn't have to wait more than 5-10 minutes. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, and has an a la carte menu (our guidebook said it was a set menu and that reservations were essential). The bone marrow and foie appetizers are excellent. What a wonderful experience! The superb tasting menu, which is 60 Euro per person, consisted of 5 amazing courses: starting with a creamy asparagus soup with summer peas, followed by an octopus salad with the sweetest tomatoes imaginable, the veal with white asparagus and a pea puree was absolutely fabulous, this was followed by a delicious cheese plate, finally dessert...which... We always make a point to eat at this small place in the 6th when we are in Paris, usually more often than once. Dinner reservations are booked six months in advance, but no reservations are taken for lunch which begins at noon. People often start lining up for lunch around 11:30.

Cramped tables mean the you will engage with your fellow diners - and maybe make some new friends. A truly memorable experience with some amazing combinations of ingredients. True the chicken was undercooked but otherwise the food was amazing. Not my preference but if you like radishes that starter is amazing. My lobster bisque was great with a slight difference... More

On our second rainy day in Paris our daughter brought us to this fabulous restaurant for lunch. At the time we were unfamiliar with many of the menu options but took a chance and after a delicious bottle of Rose we were ready to be adventurous. The escargot was perfect and satisfied our daughter's craving. My salmon salad was plentiful, healthy... More

This place is packed most of the time with foodies and tourists. once you get a table everything flows really fast. I kind of got the feeling they want me to finish up as there happen to be more ppl in line to be fed :( BUT and that is a big remark: that was the best meal I had... More

I had dinner here because I ate many good reviews here and also there was a lot of people dining here. The environment was very crowded with little personal space. Service was friendly and good. The food was the most disappointing, given such good reviews and for Paris standards. I had a lobster bisque and roast chicken. The taste was... More

We ate lunch in the Le Comptoir bistro and it was truly excellent. The two of us had the Plat du Jour, Veal with artichoke, asparagus, etc and it was that good we used the bread to mop the plates with (if Michelin stars chefs can do it on TV's MasterChef it's not bad manners in our book). I had... More

This was our first true French meal in Paris. The restaurant is located in a busy part of the city near the Seine, and despite not having a reservation they squeezed us in for dinner. The interior of the restaurant is somewhat small, but with additional seating on the sidewalk. The restaurant felt like a higher quality restaurant, which it... More

Stopped in for lunch around 2.30pm at this little restaurant near L'Odeon in the St Germain district. It was extremely friendly and very professional despite being full for lunch. The two hound ladies who served us were obviously Uni students and their English was very good. My wife had the asparagus soup with ham and egg and I had the... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
