Second chance

I like being fair. Few months ago, I complained about getting a bit of a strange service, having been told after 2 hours time that the next customers had come and we had to leave the table. But I gave it a second chance clarifying that it might take us 3 hours. They proposed to make a... read more

Another evening of fabulous French food prepared to perfection. The service and attention here was wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect casual, cozy French chic. I really had a great time eating at these smaller establishments other than the large ones with outdoor seating on all the corners. It's worth the time to explore a little and branch out to... More

Read about this place on TripAdvisor, so I went and checked it out. It looked cute and was on a small side street. Unfortunately, it was closed so when I got back to my hotel, I asked them to make a reservation for me. I would strongly recommend making a reservation as the place was full from start to finish... We loved the ambiance, delicious and perfectly prepared meals, service by the owner! My daughter left her phone at the table and they searched for it and we returned to pick it up. Quality and delightful find in Paris!

Discovered this gem while just looking for a cafe to have a glass of wine and a small meal. The restaurant only seats about 20 people, so get there early when it opens - about 7PM, or after 8:30. The first night we just had a haricot bean salad (fabulous) and sliced marinated salmon (also fabulous). After speaking with other... More

I really didn't want to write this review because something's need to be kept secret. But it's just too good that not sharing would be tantamount to sacrilege. After a long day of walking the streets of Paris eating everything in sight. I really didn't feel like eating at another french restaurant. Fortunately it was my nephews birthday and there... More

This is a tiny, very charming but somewhat cramped establishment which could be easily missed. Low ceilings and tables are elbow to elbow. But the food, ambience and Parisian vibe make this place a must not miss. It's jammed with locals which is always a good indication of authenticity and quality. Portions are generous and prices are good value. Between... More

This is a tiny and rather cramped bistro in a side street which we would have ignored without the recommendation of our hotel's patron. This is authentic traditional French fare - big portions, great taste and good value. Which explains why it's jam packed with locals! Not the place for a quiet romantic dinner, but perfect for a bit of... More

Many restaurants are closed on Sunday, so we were happy to find this authentic French bistro for dinner. Le Bistrot d'Henri is small, charming, and the food is delicious! You are greeted by the owner and seated by his wife. Daily specials are on the board and include fresh seasonal plates, such as the white asparagus we ordered, served with... More

It was a Thursday night at about 8:30pm and the place was packed. Not a seat available and they don't take reservations. Another reviewer stated that the place was filled with tourists but we found just the opposite. It was filled with locals some of whom seemed to be loyal customers to Henri as they gave the French Double Kiss... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
