Very good food, great service

I went there with four adults and four kids -- not easy for a small bistro in the Left Bank of Paris. They were accommodating and gracious. The food was very good, though not everything was great. The lamb and steak were standouts. The scallops with pasta were OK, but not great. All-in-all... read more

What an absolute find! Only a small restaurant run by a couple but they looked after is really nicely and treated us to some lovely food! I can't recommend the boeuf bourginon highly enough which is always dangerous when in France but the whole meal was superb. We were a group of friends and everyone concurred as to the quality... 7 people No reservations Waiter was great, friendly, accommodating (moved a couple down so that all of us were able to sit together—without telling us he was doing it) Food Was Excellent was the consensus Escargots (1 dozen, bubbly hot) Delicious Boeuf Bourguignon “the best in Paris,” according to the waiter My dinner was great—the best escargots I’ve ever had... This Bistro was recommended by friends, a bit far from where we we stayed , a little bit hard to find and small but well worth the effort ! One of the most enjoyable nights I have ever had! The owner was so friendly and great English, same with his head waiter, nothing was too much trouble. The main thing... More

I can't say enough superlatives about Le Bistrot d'Henri. A true Bistrot in every way, seating only 32, on a street too narrow for cars, and the most delicious, genuine French cooking. This is a definite two thumbs up and a place you should plan on for your Paris visit. Henri's was recommended by a former Paris resident friend as... More

Bistro d'Henri is a respected, trusted, tiny and long standing provider of value oriented French fare located on a side street in the 6th arrondissement. In recent years, the menu has expanded somewhat to curious but interesting offerings such as curry and shrimp on rice. The beloved and highly acclaimed duck confit has sadly been replaced (at least for summer... More

This was one of our stand out meals in France - and we had a lot of good ones. The intimate atmosphere combined with the good food was a hit for all of us - even our kids. The escargot was amazing and the Boeuf Bourginon was also a favorite. Highly recommend this although it was tricky to find!

Only bad meal we had in a week (mostly St. Germain). Food was tasteless (risotto for one, fish for the other). Dinner for two was about 80 euros. The only reason we ate here was because most of the other places were closed (Sunday, Monday), and we didn't want to eat at Chez Fernand twice. Go to Chez Fernand instead,... More

I went to dinner with my mom here last night and we had a fabulous time! It is tucked in a cute street on the West Bank and serves amazing French food. The two of us shared a warm goat cheese appetizer and the escargot appetizer. Both were amazing. For dinner I had roasted chicken in a mushroom cream sauce.... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
