This was one of our stand out meals in France - and we had a lot of good ones. The intimate atmosphere combined with the good food was a hit for all of us - even our kids. The escargot was amazing and the Boeuf Bourginon was also a favorite. Highly recommend this although it was tricky to find!

Only bad meal we had in a week (mostly St. Germain). Food was tasteless (risotto for one, fish for the other). Dinner for two was about 80 euros. The only reason we ate here was because most of the other places were closed (Sunday, Monday), and we didn't want to eat at Chez Fernand twice. Go to Chez Fernand instead,... More

I went to dinner with my mom here last night and we had a fabulous time! It is tucked in a cute street on the West Bank and serves amazing French food. The two of us shared a warm goat cheese appetizer and the escargot appetizer. Both were amazing. For dinner I had roasted chicken in a mushroom cream sauce.... More

Le Bistrot d'Henri is a tiny restaurant serving decent traditional French fare. Even for Paris standards, the dining room is a bit too small to eat comfortably. In fact, I had to finish my meal quickly because the restaurant became somewhat suffocating when guests started pouring in around 8pm. I recommend going early at 7pm to avoid the crowds. We... More

We definitely ordered the wrong thing based on everyone else's comments. We had the crab bisque which could have used a little more cream and a little more sherry (not sure it had any sherry at all). We shared the scallops with pesto pasta. The scallops had a very funny, almost sweet taste. I was so looking forward to this,... More

Went in for lunch on a Sunday. Place was empty. We had crab bisque and scallops with pesto. Rally not remarkable. The scallops had a funny, sweet taste that we were not expecting. The crab bisque lacked cream and port. All in all, just average.

Another evening of fabulous French food prepared to perfection. The service and attention here was wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect casual, cozy French chic. I really had a great time eating at these smaller establishments other than the large ones with outdoor seating on all the corners. It's worth the time to explore a little and branch out to... More

Read about this place on TripAdvisor, so I went and checked it out. It looked cute and was on a small side street. Unfortunately, it was closed so when I got back to my hotel, I asked them to make a reservation for me. I would strongly recommend making a reservation as the place was full from start to finish... Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
