Chasing Unicorns

The pursuit of a near perfect Paris bistro is much like searching for unicorns. One rarely sees them and often mostly in the past. For us it would be Souseyrac and Chez Georges (2e) before it became part of a conglomerate. Still, we are tempted enough to ride the metro to the outer limits of the... read more

You'll need a reservation, but La Regalade is worth the wait. This is a consistently outstanding local's restaurant with something for everyone. Don't miss it.

Started very well with squid-ink risotto and asparagus soup, then pork belly for me and bream for my wife. The bream was initially undercooked (for her at least) but asked for a bit more and came back perfect. I would also say in my opinion my mash potato had too much mustard (it was virtually a dip) and too strong... More

was recommended by a friend for authentic french food/service. It did not disappoint. The server was willing to considerately put up with a combination of decades old french and English. The menu was set but diverse enough for most anyone. My 15 year old was adventurous enough to break new ground and be rewarded. A real special time and worth... More

A group of five of us went here for dinner after work. It is a small place so reservations are necessary. Service was good and the food was delicious. Menus are in French. We had the fixed price menu (37 euros) and a few of us had substitutions which had a small additional price. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The tables... More

First of all you need a reservation, it's a small place and always full. We went for the pre fix menu - the escargot as started was excellent, went for the sea bream as main course which was fresh and flavorful, went with rice pudding per recommendation by the staff and it didnot disappoint . Portions were good and service... More

If you are looking for an authentic French bistro, go here. The food is fantastic. The staff are very accommodating. The tables are a bit close (but so are all Parisien Bistros), but the ambience is great – if not perfect. They start you with a deep dish of pate that you eat as much as you like and cornichons... The food was tasty and although there is a fixed menu at 37€/person there are a lot of choices. For once it worths it but generally, I found it expensive and for tourists so as to discover the traditional French cuisine. The staff was very friendly!

Reservations highly recommended or you won't get a seat. Really delicious, worth every penny! The "menu of the day" is a great value for money however everything looks, smells and sounds so delicious so it was difficult to stay with the suggested "menu". We went based on a suggestion by a French colleague who is from Paris. There are so... More

I have almost lost count of the number of times we have eaten at la Regalade. We only go once a year, in January when we go to Paris for my birthday. I always book at least a month in advance so as to be sure of a table and confirm my booking the day before. Be aware that the... More
