We have been to LaFontaine de Mars several times (even before the Obamas had dinner there) and have never been disappointed-perhaps because we order the same dinners every time. My choice, the duck confit, is the best I ever had and the fries are amazing. My wife's choice, the cassoulet, is delicious, but you may need to bring a few... More

Lovely food, service, and location. Highly recommended. We enjoyed the "country style" duck terrine, escargots, Canard, and fish of the day scallops. Our waitress was lovely and took great care of us. Best to book ahead, there are two seatings (8pm and 10pm) and we saw a few folks that showed up without a booking that had to wait quite... More

A 20 minute wait for a table we were told. When we said "thanks, but we'll go elsewhere," the gent asked for a minute to check, and came back to tell us we could have a table in 5 minutes. In 10 minutes we were in fact shown to a table in a back corner...perhaps added in order to fit... More

I personally don't like returning to the same restaurant twice while I am on vacation so I experience as many different places as possible, but for La Fontaine de Mars we made an exception and went back again before the end of our trip. My wife HAD to have the chicken breast with morels and morel cream again because she... More

There are few choices for dinner on Sundays in Paris, but, luckily, this restaurant is open every day of the week. The restaurant's focus is on classic bistro fare, namely specialties from the South West region of France--duck, foie gras, cassoulet, etc. This was our second visit, and this review is mixed because one dish was outstanding--the duck confit--while the... We had been in Paris for a week by the time we had dinner here so we had some experience with bistros by then. Our feeling was that they treated us like tourists by seating us in a less desirable location and trying to hurry us. We made every effort to speak French but our waiter was not very friendly... Loved having a casual dinner here with a friend last month. I had a craving for confit de canard and searched for a good place to have it. The Obama's dined here so I was intially turned off, thinking it would be teeming with tourists but decided to give it a try anyway. It was indeed charming, and even though... More

First night in Paris our hotel recommended this place. It was delicious! Great way to start our trip and not break the bank. Wonderful staff and great ambiance. Don't pass this place by!

We stopped in, but had a reservation, it was beautifully decorated, loved the tablecloths, but of course they weren't for sale. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive, and made us feel so welcome, even though we couldn't speak French. The goat cheese appetizer is sumptuous. The house wine was tasty and affordable. Our main course of beef was perfect, all... More

good food, ok service paris style, so with a certain arrogance, very expensive cassoulet, cheap and good dish of the day, not bad at all
