New facelift

no need to book ...it is not the same that used to be. Soufflés are still there but for how long? Loyal French and Parisian Customers seem to have deserted it.

I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful this dining experience was. We were planning a special dinner for our friend's surprise birthday and the staff made the entire meal a complete joy. They helped us decorate the entire table, brought us back to the kitchen to meet the chef, and even sang her happy birthday! Every person who worked... More

I've been dining at this family owned and run restaurant in my neighborhood for 18 years--in its first location and now here. It was always comfortable and delish, with a pleasing staff. In September, the new generation decided to give it an overhaul--something it did not need--and made it all stark white with chocolate brown seats and black floors. Horribly... More

We have been dining at Le Recamier for years, before it moved to its present location, and have never been disappointed. We were surprised to find that reservations are now not accepted, but this turned out not to be problematic. We were seated outside on a very pleasant evening and the service was very personable. We had the special, 'gambas... More

We have just come back from Le Recamier. We have eaten here with pleasure for 30 years, wonderful souffles, very friendly service. Tonight was a horror. The whole restaurant has changed, it looks like a cheap cafe, but worst of all, you can't have a simple savoury souffle without a lot of other ingredients included. We finally realized it had... Great products, delicious food starring French soufflés with classic and extravagant recipes. We can also order excellent meat, fish and desserts. The service is warm and personnal. We had a wonderful time on one of the best outdoor sitting in Paris.

Yes, the Obamas ate here. Yes, they are famous for their soufflés. I made a reservation for myself, my mother, and 2 daughters. Three generations of women, all who speak French. Not good enough, unfortunately. They were polite, but clearly uninterested in American clientele. The soufflés were ok . . not the best I have had. If you want to... More

My wife and I had lunch and had great soufflés. The chocolate soufflé was amazing. Plenty of different soufflé options as main course

The food was sublime, the staff attentive, the cost very reasonable, the owner like an immediate old friend. Could not have ended our time in Paris with greater joy.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
