Blah overpriced food- do not go

Standard bistro fare which I love, but it was all done poorly and quite expensive for what you get. It is 30 euros for a two course dinner, and after spending a few days in Paris, I know that there is much better stuff out there for less. The duck was tough and salty. The sea bass was undercooked... read more

I went against my usual habit of checking Trip Advisor for a restaurant and went here on a personal recommendation. To be honest, I should have stuck to my guns. I was excited to see bouillabaisse on the menu (a personal favourite) but somewhat underwhelmed at the execution. That's not to say it's bad, just squarely average. I would describe... More

Well done. The best dinner of three we had in Paris for the weekend. Excellent starters (fried small fish), excellent bouillabaisse. Authentic. Friendly service. The restaurant was PACKED by 9 PM --- but we didn't even need a reservation. I was pleasantly surprised that this was not an "ex-pat" restaurant. I would estimate that half the patrons were locals. It... More

Everything was superb. A bit hard to find, but well worth it. We had the chicken and sea bass. Very well prepared. Deserts are awesome.

We ate here with a group of six. The food is fantastic for the price! Everything was great - starters, main course, dessert, service, drinks and atmosphere. I had the scallop appetizer, which I highly recommend. The millefuille dessert is so delicious and is a gourmet play on the pastry.

This handsome Provencal restaurant is a rarity in Paris, for it is open 7 days a week. Well located near the Luxembourg Gardens and the Place de l'Odeon, it is a dependable choice for a Sunday evening. Downstairs is the English section (or "ghetto," depending on how you think), where the server's English is very good--as is also the quality... More

We have eaten at La Bastide Odeon several times over the years the latest being two times during our stay in Paris in October, 2014. I have reviewed it before but I wanted to do so again since the restaurant is so good. It is an outstanding source for Provençal cooking in Paris. The restaurant is moderately-sized but extremely comfortable... More

We had dinner here twice in October, on our way to, and then from, Provence. Very good food, very good service.

We had spent 4 hours in line at Air France after our flihgt home had been cancelled, we were tired and stressed out, so when we walked by the calm lovely interior, and the smells, drew us in. What a find for just walking in off the street! The food was stellar and the service was kind and professional. The... More

My wife chose this restaurant for a significant birthday celebration because we had been taken there before by a Parisian friend and had enjoyed it then. Its specialty is the food of south-west France, especially seafood. We had not told the restaurant about the birthday, so we were astonished when the maitre d' greeted my wife with birthday greetings. A... More

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
