3 of us had dinner last night and we all agreed it was one of the worst meals we have ever eaten in Paris. A fixed 30E for a choice of 2 courses...a shellfish dish that was barely edible in fact left uneaten...a vegetable pasta risotto that was very ordinary and an entree of eggplant with ricotta that was tasteless...it... Highly recommended. The food is superb, the service attentive but not obtrusive. The food is cooked with skill and finesse, but without superfluous frills. A selection of reasonably-priced wines. I try to come here at least a couple of times a month when in Paris.

This was our favorite dinner in Paris during our five night stay. The ingredients were fresh and presented in a unique but accessible way. Our teenage children enjoyed a simple chicken and potatoes while we each had an herb risotto along with a salmon and potato starter and cauliflower soup. The desserts were also beautifully prepared and delicious. The passion... More

It works by menu, daily market ingredients, and the choices are in the menu are large enough. Definitely a good choice.

…and certainly a bad translation. We were given only an English menu and what was listed as liver turned out to be kidney, with inadequate sauce to make it palatable. The dessert, which combined strawberries and basil, was the best part of the meal. Bouillabaisse was fine but lacked the usual variety of fish/shellfish.

Lovely last meal before we left Paris. The food and service were very good. The menu was based around what's best from the markets. The food was inventive on one hand (particularly the desserts) and overall demonstrated a well thought out hand in the kitchen while staying true to the bistro ideal. Back in Paris soon and will be here... More

We ate here 10+ yrs ago on our first trip to Paris and we had fond memories of it. This time around, not so much. Brightly lit upstairs. The two waiters never smiled - very detached. The food was fine. I ordered flank steak cooked medium, it definitely was medium rare. I wouldn't rush back,

On a beautiful evening in Paris we set out to find a restaurant we had previously booked. Only we couldn’t find it from the address and even the locals had a problem helping. In desperation and weariness we called into La Bastide for additional directions. In a very short but very memorable conversation (all of 30 seconds) with the Restaurant... More

The food was some of the best we've had in Paris, but it was the friendliness and attention of the management and staff that made our experience here truly superior. It was the highlight of or trip and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
