It was a lovely place to go after the Vivaldi concert at St. Chapelle. Good service, lovely food and an excellent choice of wines.

Like many folks, we heard about this lovely restaurant in Rick Steves' guide book. All of the food that we had was very good, the service was friendly and efficient, and the quality to price ratio seemed spot on to me. The only possible downside is that you're very likely to be surrounded by guide-book toting Americans, but I would... More

I had located L'Orangerie from a list of recommendations from Rick Steves plus good write-ups in Tripadvisor. It was an excellent choice. Everything about it was just right. Its a nice, small restaurant with charm - and the service was excellent - very attentive and for the group of four of us who could not speak much French, they were... More

We went to this restaurant on 7 May to reserve a nice table for the next evening (our 50th wedding anniversary). The host was very friendly, took our name and telephone number, and noted our choice of table. Arriving a few minutes early on the 8th, we observed that our choice of table was just being occupied. When I approached... More

Had a lovely lunch here last week. The service was friendly and the waitress spoke good English so it didn't matter that my French is terrible. Food is good with generous portions, I was so full after a starter and a main that I had no room for dessert. It is situated on the Île Saint-Louis so it is near... More

This is one of those restaurants you have to go to in Paris to let people know you went. You have to disregard the mediocre food and base your experience on...OK I WENT. It's like going to Bobby Vans, Ben's Chili Bowl, and Old Ebbitt Grill in DC. I'm not really into bucket list restaurants so I'm not sure why... More

My husband and I had a lovely and delicious dinner at L'Orangerie. The space is charming, classic French. The service was excellent and the hostess spoke excellent English and was very helpful in interrupting the menu. We had the foie gras which was delicious and other items from the ala carte menu. I would especially recommend the pasta. Everything we... More

We had a wonderful meal in this great restaurant on St. Louise Isle, really helpful waiters translate for me as my shameful knowledge of the French language dates back some 30 odd years to school, great food, wine and atmosphere. A great night enjoyed by we two on our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Couldn`t recommend this highly enough. Go there you... More

I was a guest at a dinner celebrating a wedding. Wonderful choice by the hosts! First a wonderful aperitif, followed by an appetizer (Entree) of "La salade de tourteaux aux petits legumes" (Crab salad with vegetables). That was served in a tapered glass. It was light, not fishy at all, and very delicate. The Plat (main course) I chose was... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
